RENO, NV (Nov. 9) — Great weather set the stage for car meets this weekend. In our area there were a pair, one each day.
• Saturday began when the Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee met at the Summit Mall. This time they were toward the south end by the new Starbucks.

One of the cars on display was a De Tomaso Pantera. Painted bright red it certainly got its share of attention. The car is being watched as the owner is out of the country.

The motor was bright and chromed. According to the gentleman that brought it, and who owns at least one more of them, the motor is easy work on.

Not far away was a quartet of BMW’s. Behind these four were some more BMW sedans.

Another car was a British Triumph sports car. It’s owner, once he got parked then opened the hood so everyone could see the motor.

The motor was very clean and the owner said he was going to put in a new distributor, one that’s electronic.

Another British car was a Bug Eye Sprite. Years ago these were very popular both for street use and road racing. This one has a non-standard top.

Keeping with the British theme there was a beautiful Jaguar XK sedan in the mix. The opened trunk had a lot of information about the car.
All in all the turnout was very good and the great weather helped. The next meet for this group is on the second Saturday in December, weather permitting.
• On Sunday Sparks Cars & Coffee had its first meet of the month. As usual it was by the Starbucks off Disc Driver at the southern end of Spanish Springs.

There were a variety of cars including several exotics. One of them was a McLaren that drew the interest of several people.

Not far away was a Roadster with a great looking custom paint job.

There was also a pair of exotics, one domestic and the other imported. The domestic one was a gray Corvette decorated with many decals and parked beside it was an Italian blue Lamborghini.

There were also two Dodge Chargers both equipped with Scat Packs on display. Both were highlighted by custom paint designs on the. One belonging to Wesley Deegan had a patriotic design.

Parked right beside that was a purple charger owned by his wife Deneen. It too had a custom pain scheme and was displayed at the recent SEMA show in Las Vegas. She said that next year both cars will be displayed at the SEMA show.

One car, when compared with the exotics is kind of a classic understatement. It’s a British built Morris Minor Mini complete with right hand steering.
These were made for several decades and sold all over the world. It has several names but most call these a Mini and now they are changed and produced in Germany.
The next car meet is when Reno Cars & Coffee hosts its second of the month this coming Sunday.
