SPARKS , NV (Nov. 23) — As we head into Thanksgiving week Sparks Cars & Coffee staged its second meet of the month. Mother Nature helped by supplying clear, mild weather.

As usual there were different cars as well as a row of imports that included a gray Honda CRX.

Not far away was a beautiful 1965 Chevy II that was all shined up and looking great.

Inside the modified engine bay was a 409 motor. It was chromed and ready to power the car.
One thing different this time was a vendor, who had a table set up to show what she was offering.
Her name is Nicole Tomburello, who explained what she was selling.

“I hand engrave and etch mirrors for cars. Rear view mirrors and custom wall mirrors.

“I’ve been doing this for about a year. The response has been pretty good off of social media and stuff. This is my first time actually going somewhere. It’s pretty good so far.”
Her e-mail is, xomenx.sti@gmail.com, where one can ask about the mirrors she can make for you.

One person brought their 1950’s GMC Pick Up. It’s lowered and the headlights have been replaced with newer units.

Under the hood things are different. It’s certainly not the stock motor so it might be a sleeper at a stoplight.
Not far away was a restored 1941 Ford Pickup. Owner Geff Staffelbach explained it has some history behind it.

“It’s all stock running gear, three-speed with overdrive, all steel with a flat head in the front,” he said. “ Well I first saw the truck in ‘Deals and Wheels,’ in 2019 and I called up the guy in Graeagle, California. I talked to him and I didn’t pull the trigger then but I kept that newspaper because of that truck.
“Two years later I won a jackpot and thought, ‘you know what I’m going to call up about that truck again’. I called and talked to his wife, June and she said that her husband had passed away. I.” said I’m sorry but by chance to you still have the 41. She said yes and I said do you still want to sell it. She said yes and I said what’s the number, what to you want to sell it for.”
He explained she was affiliated with Hot August Nights and knew a bunch of Hot Rodders and it took two and a half months to get that the price.
“When she gave me a number over the phone and I’ve never seen the truck in person, I said ‘I’ll buy it.’ My buddy and I went over and winched it on my car trailer. It didn’t look anything like it looks now.”
After getting it home he and his friend spent the nex two years restoring it. It was a frame down restoration due to rust and there was a lot of welding needed.
“The body was good and I got a donor truck with it.”

The original owner had switched the cab so they installed the one it has now. That took a lot of sheet metal work, and new floorboard as well as other things. The Ford flathead engine is original and the truck has been repainted. Now this restoration runs and can be displayed.

As usual there were several Corvettes and at least one Lamborghini. At the end of one row there were two McLarens parked side by side.
All in all it was a good meet to start Thanksgiving week with.
