RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: MARCH 12 – 15

RENO, NV (March 11) — We’re heading into another warm weekend. One that has car meets as well as one of the first races of the season.

CAR MEETS:

Kim’s Kruisers start the weekend at Kim’s Donut & Tea House.

• As usual the weekends gets rolling starting at 8 a.m. Thursday at Kim’s Donut an Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

• This weekend Carson Cars & Coffee has a double header. They’ll meet at 6:30 Friday evening and at 6:30 Saturday evening. Location is the Dutch Brothers Coffee Stand by the Carson Mall at 1231 South Carson Street.

Reno Cars & Coffee meets Sunday morning.

• Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. Reno Cars & Coffee holds its second meet of the month. Location is by the Human Bean Coffee Stand near the corner if Keitzke and Moana Lanes.

Hot August Nights has a special event Saturday evening.

• Hot August Nights Foundation is hosting Classics & Cocktails on Saturday. Location is at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa. Doors open at 5:30 upstairs over the casino floor.

RACING (4-Wheel):

• Not quite yet but in a few weeks regional oval tracks as well as drag strips will start their 2026 season.

MOTOCROSS (PRACTICE AND RACING)

REP Racing MX has a full schedule this weekend.

• REP RACING MX has a busy weekend for all three of its tracks.

  • Riverfront MX on Thursday has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. while Friday, at those same hours, its Mini Night. Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is open practice.
  • Prairie City MX from 9 until 2 p.m. has open practice on Saturday and Sunday.
BBMX starts the spring season this weekend at the Sandbox MX in Fernley.
  • The Sandbox MX in Fernley is hosting the first BBMX race of the season. Saturday is practice day then on Sunday morning there usually is a short practice with racing to follow.

• This weekend the motocross track at the Reno-Fernley Raceway is dark. Practice resumes next weekend.

MMX Racing has practice Saturday and Sunday.

• MMX Racing, from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday has practice on the Main, Sand and Kids tracks. Sunday the time is from 9 until 3 p.m. on the same tracks.

E Street MX Park has racing this weekend.

• E Street MX Park has a busy weekend. The two-day Yuba River Run Hare Scramble is there both days.

The series is at AMP MX this weekend.

• The P.R.O. Frigid 8 winter series at the AMP MX track this Sunday.

West Hare Scrambles is at Fort Sage this weekend.

• This weekend the West Hare Scrambles are outside of Doyle, California at Fort Sage.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL)

Here is this weekend’s NASCAR schedule. They are in Las Vegas this time.

• Once again the NASCAR weekend at Las Vegas is behind pay walls. Fortunately www.youtube.com usually has highlights of all these races.

• Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.

• On Friday Fox Sports 2 has NXT practice #1 from Arlington, Texas at noon then at 1 p.m. the network carried practice #1 for the Indy Cars.

• On Saturday at 6:30 a.m. Fox Sports has practice #2 for the Indy Cars then at 8 a.m. Fox Sports 2 has the second NXT practice.

  • Then at 11:30 Fox Sports 2 has Indy Car qualifying and at 1:30 the network carries the NXT qualifying.

• At midnight Saturday, Apple TV has the Formula 1 race from Shanghai, China. Later You Tube will have highlights.

  • At 9 a.m. Fox will carry the Indy Car race from Arlington, Texas. It’s another high-speed oval track race.
  • Then at 1 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the NASCAR Cup Race from Las Vegas.

That’s it for this weekend. If possible do get out and see a race live or attend one of the car meets. You’ll meet some great people at either event.

The VCGP drawing party is only a couple of weeks from now.
