CAR MEETS & RACING PREVIEW: MAY 7 TO 10

RENO, NV (May 6) — Warm weather has returned and so has many car and motorcycle meets and some cruises. There is also some racing as well as what is on TV and the Internet.

CAR MEETS:

Kim’s Cruisers meet Thursday morning at Kim’s Donut and Tea House.

• The weekend gets going Thursday morning around 8 when Kim’s Cruisers meet at Kim’s Donut & Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

This Thursday evening is time to cruise to Chilcoot Frosty.
  • Another summer time cruise actually started a couple of weeks ago. It’s not the 6th annual Thursday Cruznite  to Chilcoot Frosty. Take 395 north  then turn onto Highway 70 and go over the hill.
Gardnerville Cars & Coffee meets on Thursday.

– That afternoon at 6:30 Gardnerville Cars & Coffee meets at the Dairy Queen. Location is 1750 U.S, 395 North in Minden.

•Friday has five events.

Hot August Nights has its Spring Fever at the At.antis.
  • Hot August Nights has the annual Spring Fever at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino. Runs both Friday and Saturday and there will be entertainment, cars to see as well as vendors.
Kickstands & Coffee is at 395 Motorsports.
  • Early Saturday morning, starting at 9 a.m., 395 Motorsports has Kickstands and Coffee for the bike crowd. Location is 951 Jacks Valley Road at the south end of Carson City.
Every Friday, weather permitting , the Reno Bike Community has a ride.

– The Reno Bike Community has another Friday Night Ride. Meet up starts around 6 p.m. at the Maverick’s located by the corner of Sutro and North McCarran and 7 p.m. is when kickstands go up.

Fernley Friday Night Cruise is this Friday.
  • Although the date is wrong Fernley’s Friday Night Cruise is back. On Friday it runs from 6 until 9 p.m. going up and down Main Street.
Carson Cars & Coffee has another double-header this weekend.

– Carson Cars & Coffee has another Friday-Saturday double-header that starts at 6:30 each night. Location is by the Dutch Brothers Coffee Stand located at 1231 South Carson Street.

• There are several meets going on this Saturday.

Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee has a meet Saturday morning.
  • Vintage Euro, starting at 9 a.m., meets at Doughboy’s Donuts. Location is 57 Damonte Ranch Parkway.
Big Mama’s Show & Shine is this Saturday.
  • That same morning, starting at 10 a.m. it’s Big Mama’s Show & Shine for 1979 and older cars Location is Lampe Park in Gardnerville.
Big Valley Honda is hosting a StadiumGP block party Saturday afternoon.
  • Here in Reno, from 3 until 5 p.m., it’s the StadiumGP Block Party. Location Big Valley Honda at 2225 Market Street.
Reno Evo Club meets Saturday afternoon.
  • The evening starting at 6 p.m. the Reno Evo Club meets. Location is by Applebees Bar & Grill at 4805 Keitzke.
Sparks Cars & Coffee meets Sunday morning.

• Sunday only had two events. The first, starting at 10 a.m., is when Sparks Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month. Location is by the Starbucks at 171 Disc Drive Sparks.

Sunday afternoon is the year’s first cruise in at Summit Racing Equipment.

– That afternoon, from 1 until 4 p.m., Summit Racing Equipment has its first Sunday Cruise-In. Location is 960 East Glendale in Sparks.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

• There are some oval track races this weekend.

The Pro Stocks will be at Cedarville Raceway on Saturday.
  • Up north the Cedarville Raceway hosts the first of four races slated for this season. Both Pro Stocks and Hobby Stocks will be featured.
Diamond Mountain Speedway is in action this Saturday evening.
  • Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California has May Madness on Saturday. The action usually starts around 6 p.m.
Rattlesnake Raceway has two nights of racing this weekend/
  • Rattlesnake Raceway, just east of downtown Fallon has a two-day show.  Friday’s races begin at 7 p.m. while it’s a 6 p.m. start for Saturday’s show.
The Outlaw Karts race Saturday afternoon at Rattlesnake Raceway.
  • Saturday afternoon is when the Outlaw Karts race at Rattlesnake Raceway. It’s an afternoon show with a 2 p.m. to the action.
Summit Raceway opens is 2026 season Saturday night.
  • Further east Summit Raceway in Elko begins its season on Saturday.

PRACTICE & RACING (MOTOCROSS):

Battle Born MX is racing at the Stead Motocross track this weekend.

• For those racing in the Battle Born MX series the next round is this weekend. Saturday is practice while Sunday is race day. Location is the dirt extension of Lemmon Drive about a mile past the Go Kart track.

REP Racing MX has a busy weekend. And this time there is a ride day at the Sandbox MX.

• This is a busy weekend for REP Racing as Riverfront has three days of practice. Prairie City has a ride day then the last practice until the Outdoor Series is over with. 

  • This week the Sandbox MX has a OTHG Ride Day. One must be a member of OTHG to participate,
MMX Racing has practice this weekend.

• MMX Racing has Saturday practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. Sunday’s practice is from 9 until 3 p.m. with the Vintage added to the mix.

E Street MX Park has practice on Saturday but is close for Mother’s Day.

• E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. and is closed for Mother’s Day.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

NASCAR is at Watkins Glen this weekend.

• This weekend NASCAR and ARCA will be turning left and right at the Watkins Glen road course in New York State. All the races, except those on the CW network, are behind a pay wall.

• Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour followed at 7 p.m. by Speed

• Friday has two races from Wakins Glen but Fox Sports 1 and 2 split coverage of the Indy Cars from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

• Saturday starts at 5:55 a.m. when Fox Sports 2 has MotoGP sprint from Le Mans.

AMA Supercross ends its season at Salt Lake City on Saturday.
  • At 10 a.m. Peacock has Race Day Live then at 4 p.m. the network broadcasts this season’s final AMA Supercross race from Salt Lake City. Both the 250 East and West will have a combined race. Lux Turner from Gardnerville races in the west series.
Indy Car is on the road course this week.
  • At 1:30 p.m. Fox will broadcast the Indy Car Race from the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

• Sunday, starting at 4:30 a.m. is when the MotoGP race from Le Mans, France will start. At noon Fox Sports 1 has the NASCAR Cup race from Watkins Glen.
