RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: MAY 14 TO 17

RENO, NV (May 13) — Here we are half way through the month and there is a huge amount of car meets, cruises, some racing as well as what’s on TV. The buffet table is over flowing.

CAR MEETS:

They get the weekend going early on Thursday when Kim’s Cruisers meet.

• Thursday, as usual starts around 7 a.m. when Kim’s Cruisers meet at Kin’s Donut and Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

This weekend the Cadillac Kings are having a 4-day show at South Lake Tahoe.
  • This weekend, starting on Thursday the Cadillac Kings Reno-Tahoe Chapter is having a four-day Classic Cadillac Show. Location is the Lakeshore Lodge and Spa in South Lake Tahoe.
  • Here in Reno it’s Low Rider Cruise Night that runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at Tacos Tijuana. Location is 2201 Prater in Sparks.
Low Riders are having a cruise night Thursday.
  • It’s also Thursday Cruznite where people cruise to the Chilcoot Frosty an Goodwins General Store. Go north on 395, turn onto Highway 70, go over the hill and it’s on your right.
Nice way to end Thursday is to cruise up to Chilcoot Frosty for some ice cream.

Friday is pretty empty right now. When this article was written Carson Cars & Coffee had not posted anything about a meet. However they also have pop up events so please check their Face Book page.

• Saturday is a full day with many meets and at least one bike meet.

Early Saturday Automotion has a Euro Sunday on a Saturday meet.
  • Starting at 8:30 a.m. Automotion hosts the 5th Annual Euro Sunday….on a Saturday. Location is 225 Telegraph in Reno.
Fallon Cars & Coffee meets Saturday morning.
  • To the east Fallon Cars “N” Coffee at 8:30 a.m. has another meet. Location is the Walmart Parking lot, next to the Nursery, at 2333 Reno Highway.
Battle Born Off Roaders are having to Go Topless Day to benefit their buying protective vests for law enforcement K-9’s.
  • At 9 a.m. Battle Born Off Roaders have their 6th Annual Go Topless Day. This allows the club to buy safety vests for law enforcement dogs. Location is 4 Wheel Parts by Meadowood Mall.
There is a show and shine for motorcycles in Carson City.
  • The Carson City Motorcycle Show & Shine starts at 11 a.m. on the Nevada State Legislature Grounds. Address is 401 S. Carson Street in Carson City.
The FinalFinal bar in Stagecoach is having its Classic Car Show.
  • Over in Stagecoach with an 11 a.m. start time it’s the 2nd Annual Spring Car Show hosted by the Final-Final Bar. Location is 5905 Apache Drive.
The Reno Take Over is at the convention center this Saturday.
  • Also starting at 11 is the Reno Takeover, or the Reno Supershow.  Starts at 11 a.m. at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, right across the street from the Atlantis Hotel & Casino.

• There are three events on Sunday.

Reno Jeeps & Coffee meets Sunday morning.
  • Reno Jeeps & Coffee meets at 10 a.m. by Human Bean Coffee Stand at the corner of Longley and South McCarran.
Reno Cars & Coffee meets Sunday morning.
  • At that same time Reno Cars  & Coffee meets by the Human Bean Coffee stand by the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes. There usually is a pretty good turnout of cars.
Sunday is the next round of the Museum Cup series.
  • Starting around 11 the National Automobile Museum has the second round of the 2026 Museum Cup Series. Clubs bring in cars to be judged.
This Sunday the Fernley Klazzic Kruizers meets at Sonic in Fallon.
  • To the east, also starting at 11, the Fernley Klazzic Krizers meets at the Sonic Drive in Fallon. It’s on the Reno highway past the Walmart.

RACING  (4-WHEEL):

This weekend Summit Raceways hosts the Dwarf Car Nationals.

• Summit Raceway, outside of Elko, has a three-day show. Starts Thursday and goes through Saturday evening. The reason was the annual Dwarf Car Nationals that was moved from Winnemucca.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS)

The 3rd annual StadiumGP is this weekend.

• Of course the biggest event in our area is the third annual StadiumGP races at the Reno Rodeo grounds. It’s a three-day event with a kick off concert Thursday evening at 7:30.

  • After qualifying and practice Friday’s show begins at 7 p.m. and the gates open at 5 p.m.
The Saturday show starts earlier with a Vintage Bike Show and the Sunrays Show.
  • On Saturday gates open at 3 p.m. as there is a vintage bike show and at 4 p.m. the Sun Rays will do an act as well. Then at 7 p.m. the big show starts and racing on both nights is usually a wild affair.
REP Racing MX has a busy weekend.

• REP Racing MX has both of its California track hosting practice sessions. For Prairie City it’s the last chance to ride that track until Hangtown is over with.

Sandbox MX has a private ride day Saturday.
  • The Sandbox MX in Fernley is having a private DCMX Ride Day on Saturday. Times are 9 until 2 p.m. and the course is just west of the Veteran’s Cemetery. 
There is practice Saturday and Sunday at E Street MX Park.

• E Street has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

MMX Racing has practice this weekend.

• MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 Saturday on the Main, Sand and Kids tracks. Then from 9 until 3 Sunday on those tracks while the Vintage track is for an OSMX Ride Day.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

Here’s the TV schedule for NASCAR

• With the exception of the races on the CW network all of NASCAR, on it’s All-Star Weekend, is behind a pay wall.

• Thursday, starting at 9 a.m. Fox 2 broadcasts Indy Car Practice session number 3. Then at 10:55 the RACER network has 2026 Nurburgring 24 Hours qualifying and at 3 p.m. 2026 Supercars Championship highlights.

  • At 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Speed followed by Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour

• On Friday Fox Sports 1 and 2 alternate Indy Car practice sessions. Then at 4:30 Fox Sports has the NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from the Route 66 Nationals.

• Saturday starts early when the Roku networks has Formula E qualifying from Monaco. Then at 5:30 a.m. Fox Sports has Indy Car practice.

  • At 5:30 a.m. Fox Sports 2, on a delayed basis has MotoGP Sprint from Catalunya. Then at 8:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Qualifying Show #2.
  • Starting at 8 a.m. Fox Sports 2 then Fox Sports 1 and finally FOX has Indy Car Qualifying from Indianapolis.  Finally at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has ARCA Racing from Toldeo.

• Sunday is a big day and starts at 1:40 a.m. when Roku has Formula E qualifying from Monaco. Then at 4:30 a.m. Fox Sports has MotoGP from Catalunya followed at 5:30 a.m. with the Formula E race from Monaco.

This weekend is when Indy Car drivers qualify for the Indianapolis 500.
  • Fox Sports 2 has Indy Car practice at 10 a.m. then at 1 p.m. Fox has Indy Car qualifying from Indianapolis. 
This weekend the NHRA is in Joliet for the Route 66 Nationals.

-Finally the weekends ends with the NHRA Route 66 Nationals from Joliet at the Route 66 Raceway.

Whew! That’s it for this weekend. If possible try to attend a race or one of the many car meets in the area. You’ll meet some great people there. Have a safe weekend everyone.
