RENO, NV (May 31) — The month of May ended with two major car shows. Setting the stage was great weather.
• Saturday was when the Reno Mustang Car Club held it’s Ford car show at Rancharrah. Walking in from the parking lot folks were greeted by a row of Mustangs parked across from the Mansion.
Since it was an all-Ford show there were many types including an early model Ford Ranchero.
Not far way was a Ford GT 40. On the windshield was certification it was powered by a Shelby built 498 V-8 that produces 605 horsepower.
There was a line of Mustangs parked down by the pond. I believe one of them might be an EV version of a Mustang,
Closer to the Mansion was a vintage F100 Ford Pickup. This one was carrying a dirt bike,
Further down the line was a Ford Mustang GT 500KA, which was the 40th Anniversary Edition.
As expected at any car meet part of the main row had Mustangs with their hoods up. All in all it was a great turnout and there was a vendor offering drinks and sandwiches for lunch.
• On Sunday Northern Nevada Classics staged its second annual Classic Cruise In. the location was the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home.
Over by the speakers and sound there was a special Rat Rod made to honor veterans. It’s named War Bird on Wheels.
One person that very important to this show is Amy Morley.
“I’m the director of volunteer services here at the Northern Nevada State Veterans and with the help of Kevin Degregori and the Northern Nevada Classics this is our second annual Cruise In.
“We have an amazing turnout, we’ve opened the addition lot and it’s filling up. Kevin’s promotions have done wonders bringing this community together.”
Later Degregori commented that he told Morley this time there would be double the amount of cars that showed up last year. So he too was pleased with the turnout.
There were long lines of cars on display. Many of the residents who weren’t able to walk had people wheel them to they could see the cars.
One car on display is owned by Bill Kuehn, an Army veteran, who was a combat medic.
Asked about his car he said, “It’s a 57 Ford Fairlane 500 2-door hardtop. I’ve had it since 2018 and had it repainted but it was these colors. Put fuel injection in it, an AOD Transmission and Front disk brakes.
“It’s a driver, we take it all over the country. It’s been to Minnesota, Arizona, Oregon and Montana. It drives very well, is fun to drive and a good road car.”
There were other vintage cars in the large group. In the parking lot a vintage Chevrolet and a Ford were on display.
Another group adding color to the event were the Cherrybomb Betties.
There were several pickups on display including this Ford. It’s an example of a beautiful restoration.

• The AMA Pro Motocross series started this weekend in Southern California. Gardnerville native, who now lives in Southern California, Lux Turner was the highest place privateer. He finished 6th in the second 250 moto and ended up 7th overall.
• This coming Saturday the Northern Nevada Kart Club has the grand opening of its newly repaved track at Desert Raceway Park. The front straight is even longer and after opening ceremonies there will be practice sessions for each class and the season’s first race is June 21.
• Davey’s American Racing can be found on Face Book.
