RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: JUNE 11 TO 14

RENO, NV (June 10): Okay elections are over, weather is great and this weekend will be another busy one. Once again the car meet and racing buffet is overflowing.

CAR MEETS:

The weekend gets started Thursday morning with Kim’s Cruisers.

• Thursday is a busy day and starts around 8 a.m. when Kim’s Cruisers meet a Kim’s Donut & Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S.395 North in Gardnerville.

Thursday night is time for another cruise in Carson City.
  • There are three events that begin around 5 p.m. and one of them is the Thursday Night Cruise. This week the meeting place is San Marcos Grill at East Winnie Lane in Carson City.
There is a Lowrider Cruise on Thurday evening.
  • Another cruise is the Low Rider Cruise Night that starts at 5. Location is El Original Tacos Tijuana,  201 Prater Way in Sparks.
Want some ice cream then join the Thursday Cruznite.
  • Want some ice cream? If so there is the Thursday Cruznite that goes to the Chilcoot Frosty and Goodwins General Store. Directions are 395 North, turn left on Highway 70, go over the hill and it’s by the turn off to Frenchman’s Lake.
This week is the next Friday Night Cruise in Fernley.

• Friday from 6 until 9 p.m. Fernley’s Friday Night Cruise is back. Location is Main Street in Fernley.

It’s another Friday-Saturday double header for Carson Cars & Coffee.
  • Carson Cars & Coffee has a Friday-Saturday double header. They start at 6:30 each night and the location is the Dutch Bros Coffee Stand at 1231 South Carson Street in Carson City.
Friday evening is another cruise for thew Reno Bike Community.

• Reno Bike Community will have its Friday evening cruise. Gathering place is the Maverik station at Sutro and North McCarren. People meet starting around 6 p.m. and at 7 p.m. its kickstands up.

Friday evening is when the Old Slammers of Reno should have their next cruise.

– Old Slammers of Reno should have another Friday night cruise. Meet around 6:30 at the Northtowne parking lot then cruise will leave about an hour after that.

• Saturday is a full day with many events to choose from.

Coffee & Classics gets Saturday rolling.
  • Starting at 8 a.m. Coffee & Classics hosts a classic car Cruise In. Location is Starbucks at 4801 Kietzke Lane in Reno.
Should be another good meet for Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee.
  • At 9 a.m. Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee hosts a meet. Location is the parking lot to the south of Doughboys Donuts at 57 Damonte Ranch Parkway.
Over in downtown Loyalton there is a car show Saturday.
  • Over in downtown Loyalton, California it’s the Recycled Relics Car Show. Starts at 10 a.m. and is located in downtown.
Down in Carson City there is the benefit Engines for Angels
  • Down in Carson City, beginning at 9 a.m. it’s the Engines for Angels Car Show. Location is the Bob McFadden Plaza at 223 W. 3rd Street in Carson City.
It’s an all day cruise. starting Saturday morning for the 775 Outlaw UTV club.
  • If one is a UTV fan the 775 Outlaw UTV group is having an all day cruise. Starts at 10 a.m. and the meeting place is the Chickadee Pit area off Lemmon Drive.
Reno Mustang Car Club has a meet at Scoopers in Sparks.
  • The Reno Mustang Car Club at 11:30 is having a meet at Scoopers. Location is 1356 Prater Way in Sparks.
Bikes & Burgers meet Saturday afternoon.
  • Bikes & Burgers, starting at 4 p.m., is having a meet at Beefy’s. Location is 1300 South Virginia.
Saturday is when the next Pizza Barron Cruise Night happens.
  • The day ends with Pizza Barron Cruise Night where all makes and models are welcome. Starts at 6 p.m. and the location is 1155 West 4th Street, #113, in Reno.

• Sunday is a slower day but four events are scheduled.

The first Cars & Stripes show for Veterans starts Sunday morning.
  • The first Cars and Stripes Veteran Show starts at 9 a.m. at the Sportsman Warehouse Lot. Location is 3306 Kietzke Lane in Reno.
Sparks Cars & Coffee meets Sunday.
  • Sparks Cars & Coffee, starting at 10 a.m., has its first meet of the month. Location is the Starbucks on Disc Drive in Sparks.
There is a Flag Day cruise on Sunday that starts at the Northtowne parking lot.
  • At noon Nevada Grass Roots Patriots is staging the 7th annual Flag Day Parade. Starts at noon at the Northtowne Parking lot.
There is a Classic Car show on Geiger Grade Sunday evening.
  • Sunday afternoon, starting at 5 p.m. the South Reno Classic Car Show & Meet up is at the Ole Tyme Saloon. Location is 1505 Geiger Grade.
Modelo’s has a Cruise In Sunday evening.
  • It’s also Modelo Sunday’s Cruise In and Kickback. Starts at 5 p.m. and the location is 195 West Plumb Lane in Reno.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Rattlesnake Raceway has Octane Fest this weekend.

• This weekend Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon is having Octanefest. There are added classes as well as the usual one. Friday’s program begins at 7 p.m. while it’s a 6 p.m. start on Saturday.

The Karts race Saturday afternoon.
  • The Rattlesnake Outlaw Karts race Saturday afternoon. There is a 2 p.m. to the action.
Tonopah is hosts its annual Poker Run on Saturday while Friday is full of entertainment.

• To the south, it’s the 3rd annual Tonopah Speedway Poker Run. Entertainment on Friday then the Poker Run happens on Saturday with entertainment afterwards.

Reno SCCA is having a track day at Thunderhill on Sunday.

• The Reno SCCA is having a Track Day on Sunday. Location is Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, California.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

The motocross track has open practice on Sunday.

• The motocross track at Reno-Fernley Raceway is having open practice from 8 until 1 p.m., those times are probably due to the heat. Track is located south of Fernley on 95A and just south of the airport.

Only one track is active as REP Racing hosts a Loretta Lynn Regional qualifier.

• REP Racing MX is focused on this weekend’s Loretta Lynn’s Regional Qualifier at Prairie City MX, where last week’s Hangtown Classic was held. As a result both Riverfront MX and the Sandbox in Fernley are closed.

The annual Donner Challenge is this weekend.

• AMA District 36 this weekend is hosting the annual Donner Challenge. Three series race over three days in this area.

MMX Racing has practice both days this weekend.

• MMX Racing has practice Saturday from 9 until 2 p.m. on the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. Sunday’s practice is 9 until 3 and the Vintage track is added to the mix.

• The only thing I could find regarding E-Street MX Park was dated. I recommend checking their page on Face Book or Instagram before heading out.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

NASCAR is behind pay walls this weekend.

• Once again the NASCAR Cup events are behind a pay wall. The CW network can be seen on many cable systems without paying extra.

• Thursday starting at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour followed by Speed. 

• Friday begins early at 4:10 a.m. when Apple TV has two Formula 1 practice session from Catalunya. Then at noon Fox Sports 1 has ARCA Racing from Pocono followed at 5 p.m. by NHRA Qualifying show #1.

• Saturday starts early at 3:10 a.m. when Apple TV has Formula 1 practice followed at 6:25 with qualifying.

This weekend is when the 24 Hours of Le Mans is run.

Then at 7 a.m. TruTV airs the classic twice-around-the-clock 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s a test of drivers and machines as they tear around the French countryside.

This week’s AMA Pro Motocross is at Thunderhill in Lakewood, Colorado.

Peacock at 9 a.m. airs Race Day Live. Then they split coverage, starting at noon, with the latest round of the Pro Motocross series from Thunder Valley in Colorado.

Fox Sports 1 at 11 a.m. airs NHRA Qualifying Show #2 from the Thunder Valley Nationals.

• The 24 Hours of Le Mans continues until 7 a.m. on TruTV or streame on FIAWEC+.

The Formula 1 series visits Catalunya, Spain this weekend.

At 4:50 a.m. Sunday Apple TV airs the Formula 1 race from Cataluya.

The NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals are at Thunderhill Dragway in Bristol.

The day ends at noon when Fox Sports 1 has the final rounds of the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals from Bristol.

Whew! That’s it for this weekend. Going to be a warm one with something for about anyone.

Club Rowdy will have a drifting event at the Reno Fernley Raceway next weekend.

• Club Rowdy has decided they will have a drifting event next weekend at the Reno Fernley Raceway. So if you would like to drift, or ride along, be sure to attend at least one of the days.

If you want to help clean up a good off road place here’s your chance.

• If you love offroading here is an opportunity to help keep an area clean. Battle Born Offroad Club is having at Dog Valley Cleanup/Workday on Saturday. Meeting is 9 a.m. at Cabela’s.
