RENO, NV (July 29) — Well here we are at the end of July and we’re heading into a Hot August. Folks that live in this region will know what that means.
CAR MEETS:
• Thursday has a trio of things happening:
- Around 8 a.m. Kim’s Cruisers meet at Kim’s Donut & Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. Highway 395 North in Gardnerville.
- If you like Ice Cream then the Thursday Cruznite is for you. It’s informal and this is the week when the final trophies will be awarded. Then they take a break until after Hot August Nights when the cruise will resume.
- Down in Carson City the Thursday Night Cruise will happen then they take break until after Hot August Nights. This week, stating at 5 p.m., the meeting place is Wing Stop on South Carson Street.
- Pinocchio’s Bar & Grill has Thursday Night Thunder fore bikes that benefits Mom’s on the Run. Start time is 6 p.m. and the location is 5995 South Virginia Street.
• Friday is a busy day with several events.
- Up in Virginia City, starting at 8 a.m., Hot August Nights begins its annual run. Cars are parked all along C Street then from 4 until 5 there is a Classic Car Cruise.
- Starting at noon is the First Annual Neuro Restorative Car Show. Location is 3980 Lake Placid Drive in Reno.
- The Reno Bike Community gathers at the Maverik Station located on the corner of Sutro and North McCarran. At 7 p.m. its kickstands up as this week’s ride starts.
- Over at the Northtowne parking area Old Slammers of Reno, a VW group, has a meet starting around 6:30 then sometime after 7 p.m. they head out on a cruise.
- The Combat Veteran’s Motorcycle Association, at 6 p.m., is having a ride for Mental Health Awareness. On Friday they meet Ole Bridge Pub at 50 North Sierra Street. Then Saturday morning, at 9 a.m. they have another ride that starts at Twin Peaks, 4906 South Virginia Street.
- Carson Cars & Coffee meets at 6:30 at the Dutch Bros Coffee stand. Location is 1231 South Carson Street.
• Saturday starts early as Cason Cars & Coffee gets going at 9:30 a.m. This time they’ll meet at Bully’s Sports Bar. Location is 3530 North Carson Street.
+ There is also voting for cars during this event. In addition there are Memorial Merchandise items in the gift shop honoring the memory of Boo & Jen, who perished in a crash that happened in Dayton. All the proceeds go to their children.
- Up in Virginia City the second day of Hot August Nights continues. Check in time starts at 8 a.m. and from 4 until 5 p.m. there is a Classic Car Cruise.
- Here in Sparks the Reed Raiders Cheer Team is having a car wash. Great time to clean up your car for Hot August Nights. Times are 10 to 1 p.m. and the location is Vista Blvd. and Disc.
- At 6:30 Carson Cars & Coffee has another meet. Location is Dutch Bros Coffee at 1231 South Carson Street.
- Freaks of Nature is having a Cruise In honoring the life of Rod Baldwin. Time is 6:30 and the location is the Carson Mall. All cars, trucks and bikes are welcome.
• Sunday is a relative light day with four things happening.
- Reno Jeeps & Coffee has its first meet of the month with a 10 a.m. starting time. Location is at the Human Bean at 3915 South McCarran Blvd. on the corner with Longley Lane.
- Reno Cars & Coffee also meets at 10 a.m. at the Human Bean Coffee located by the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes.
- The biggest car meet of the day, from 10 until 3 p.m., is at the Bonanza Casino on North Virginia Street. It’s the annual Cruisin’ for the Cure and benefits the Prostrate Cancer Foundation.
- Finally, starting at 5 p.m. the weekend ends with Modelo Sunday’s Cruise In and Kickback. Location is 195 W. Plumb Lane in Reno.
• Things keep rolling on Monday. Checking in for Hot August Nights is at the J Casino. Later art 4 p.m. there is a kick off party at the Peppermill and the Atlantis has its open cruise. The way to keep track of things is at www.hotaugustnights.net and download the schedule.
RACING (4-WHEEL):
• This weekend Club Rowdy is having the Hottest August Nights drifting event at the Reno-Fernley. Friday and Saturday run from 9 until 9 p.m. but might go later if there are enough cars. Sunday has a 9 to 4 p.m. schedule.
• The town of Lovelock is celebrating Frontier Days and the Lovelock Speedway has racing both Friday and Saturday nights.
- The Sierra Nevada Sprint Car series will be there Saturday. That night there will be a demo derhy and there is a drawing as the winner will get a mini van to drive in the demo derby.
• PRACTICE & RACING (MOTOCROSS):
• REP Racing has a light schedule as they are making changes to Riverfront MX for the upcoming Saturday Night Series. The Sandbox in Fernley is closed and PC MX from 8 until 1 on Saturday has a DCMX Ride Day then, at the same times, Sunday is open practice.
• E Street MX Park has practice from 8 until 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on the front and back tracks.
• This weekend MMX Racing has Saturday practice from 8 until 1 on the Main, Sand and Kids tracks. Sunday’s times are 8 until 2 p.m. and the vintage track is closed.
- On Friday MMX Racing hosts Round 4 of the Friday Night Under the Lights series. Practice starts at 5:30 with racing to follow.
• The Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Championships at Loretta Lynn’s starts Sunday. It can be seen live on www.floracing.com.
RACING (NATIONAL):
• On Thursday, starting at 2 p.m. Racer.com has Ferrari Challenge Europe from Le Mams. Then at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour followed at 3:30 by Speed.
- RACER comes back on at 4 p.m. with 2026 Trans Am highlights then at 7 p.m. has the 2026 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb highlights.
• Friday is empty so it’s a good time to check other sources like, www.fanchoice.tv, www.mavtv.com, www.floracing.com , and www.youtube.com.
• Saturday has only one thing listed and Peacock or www.imsa.tv air IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar qualifying from Road America.
