    RENO (July, 19) – Racing Preview this week not only has regional events but a couple of special ones happening close to our area and to the east. Over on TV Land and on the Internet there is a classic race as well as others to be watched.   • AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: NPSA’S SECOND VISIT

    QUINCY, CALIFORNIA (July 15) – American Valley Speedway hosted the second visit this season of the Nevada Pro Stock Association (NPSA). These speedsters rounded out a show that included all four of the regular classes. While the Pro Stocks were the stars of the show it was the IMCA Modifieds that put on the race of the night. That’s when a former three-time track champion scored her first victory in quite a while. “I did not think that race was ever going to end, I was looking for the yellow for like 10-laps,” Eric Buhr said after winning the IMCA

  • RACING PREVIEW: JULY 13 TO 16

    RENO (July 13) – Racing Preview for this weekend is another buffet of varied treats for racing fans. This not only includes events in our region but some in California as well as those on TV and streamed across the Internet. Oval track fans have two events to choose from on Saturday. To the east Rattlesnake Raceway, starting at 6 p.m. has the cars and Outlaw Karts, that start early in the afternoon. Down in Feather River country the Nevada Pro Stock Association visits American Valley Speedway in Quincy, California. As usual things get going at 7 p.m. down there.

    Lovelock (July 8) – Lovelock Speedway hosts its latest points race on a hot day with thunderstorms in the area. But this time Mother Nature smiled on the track, well except for just a bit. And the racing card had four divisions this night. After winning the 360 Sprint Car main a somewhat tired Bob Cooney said, “It was long for an old guy.   • RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY 4TH OF JULY RACES

    FALLON (July 4) – Rattlesnake Speedway hosted its traditional Independence Day races as well as the town’s fireworks show. It was an evening with fireworks on the ground as well as in the sky. The Mod Mini division put on the race of the night. When the green waved Suzi Schmidt was on point with Steve Singley giving chase. Things changed when Schmidt spun out of the lead in Turn 4.     RENO (July 5) – Now that the 4th of July is over racing is ramping up again as there are local and regional events this weekend. And the TV has a varied schedule as does the Internet. Locally three area tracks will be in action Saturday night. To the east Lovelock Speedway hosts another points race starting at 7 p.m. and about that same time to the north in Susanville, California there are more races at Diamond Mountain Speedway.     Despite the heat there was a pretty good go kart race on Sunday. STEAD (JULY 2) – Desert Park Raceway was alive with go kart racing just one week after the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosted the KPX series. Due to the heat and 4th of July weekend the kart count was down but those racing for points and fun still showed up. And this time some of the youngest drivers staged the race of the day with one competitor earning her very first main event victory.     Well here we go, another long holiday weekend. RENO (June 29) – This week’s Racing Preview has one more day added to it due to the July 4th holiday, which is on Tuesday. Still, the schedule is full of live, televised or streamed events during most of the weekend.   • DESERT PARK RACEWAY HOSTS KPX

    STEAD (JUNE 25) – Desert Park Raceway was visited this weekend by the KPX series. And hosting the third round of this year’s series was the Northern Nevada Kart Club. Unlike last year’s visit only the groups in the series raced but that brought around 106 drivers to the track. Another difference between last and this year is that it didn’t rain but was hot.     RENO (June 22) – This week’s Racing Preview is a bit unusual but still full of events as well as listings for both TV and what will be streamed over the Internet. First off there are two local events this weekend. On Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the National Auto Museum is the Reno Women with Wheels car show, which is hosted by Teresa’s Garage Radio Show.   • COREY HERRING MEMORIAL AT HONEY LAKE MX

    MILFORD, CALIF. (June 18) – MRANN ends its spring season with the Corey Herring Memorial. The event honors a young rider lost nine years ago and is traditionally run on Father’s Day weekend. This year the 5-mile course wound around the area including a run up the hill “395” and back down as well as including sending riders through both washes on each side of the park.   “Got the hole shot, dropped into this wash over here (north side), was just cruising and my mechanic, myself, the fuel line popped off,” Vaughn Wilk said after winning the Expert race.

    After a quick blast of winter like weather last weekend this week’s Racing Preview will have events running in more summer like conditions. RENO (June 15) —The big even for this weekend is the annual Corey Herring Memorial European Scrambles at the Honey Lake MX track.     A bit under the weather on Monday so this was slightly delayed. FERNLEY (June 11) – The final round of the Battle Born MX spring series was highlighted with rain and wind. Despite this over 200 riders were on hand, some to just race while others were after points and maybe clinching a title. While the overall turnout might have been a bit higher some classes have very good turnouts. In fact the 125/250 Beginner gate had 26 at the gate for the first moto and 23 for the second.
