    A local team plans on racing a historic vehicle in a famous off road race. Today Shelby Hall-Baker and I appeared on Teresa’s Garage radio show here in Reno, Nevada. Unlike her other starts Hall will be heading the team when they compete in this year’s Mint 400, the 50th anniversary of this class off-road race. She and her teammate will be driving the same Ford Bronco her grandfather Rod Hall to victory in first Mexican 1000 race and it’s the only 4-wheel driver racer to have accomplished that feat.     Weather has taken a toll on events but one classic “twice-around-the-clock” event is on tap for the weekend. Racing Preview has the altered schedule for several motocross tracks as well as what will be on TV and the Internet this weekend.     Another week into the New Year and there is more racing to see. Racing Preview this week has a regional event plus a bunch more on TV. The New Year is progressing and racing is starting to heat up again. Locally Livfast Exit 28 might not be having practice sessions this weekend. Early in the week it appeared to be at lake in some sections so those wanting to go might check their Face Book page. There will be motocross racing in Northern California however. The MotoPro Graphics Triple Crown is running the third leg of the series this weekend.

    Time to look back at the 2016 motocross season, celebrate the champions and start getting ready for the 2017 season. The motocross season review wraps up both series, spring and fall, in 2016. And hopefully it’s a forecast of more racing to come this year. This time around there was no Sandbox Grand Prix, which is a fun race for bragging rights and has been very popular. The spring round began at Exit 28 then moved to Fernley, Winnemucca and back to Exit 28. The last two round began at Fernley in April and ended in Winnemucca in May. There

Locally Livfast Exit 28 will be open for practice, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. While it’s still pretty slim this week, next week there will be more.     One more week in the “rerun zone,” but fear not racing begins this weekend. Racing Preview for this week is again thin but that’s going to change this weekend. With New Year comes racing as the thunder returns. Locally Livfast Exit 28 Motocross track will probably be having practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. When this was written there was no confirmation so one needs to check first. For those racing in the Bishop Winter Series there are practice sessions on Saturday. Usually at 8 a.m. is when the gates open followed by track time.
