  • AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: SPEED AND RAIN

    American Valley Speedway: Jeff Olschowka wins.

    Despite Mother Nature playing tricks all the races were able to be completed. QUINCY (May 14) – American Valley Speedway staged the first of its $1,000 to win races for the IMCA Modifieds this weekend. The night was a little odd as it started out dry but ended with a light rain. “The rain had me a little scared there but it really didn’t hurt the track at all, just kind of blurred your vision but it was good, took a little moisture and was nice,” Jeff Olschowka said after a green to checkered victory in the IMCA main. “We

    Fernley 95A Speedway - will Robert Miller win another IMCA feature.

    Racing preview for this week includes regional action as well as what will be on TV and the Internet.     American Valley Speedway hosts a wild night of racing. QUINCY (June 20) – The American Valley Speedway was in action with a good field of IMCA Modifieds as well as Hobby Stocks. And the Dwarf Cars made their return to after a two-year absence.   • THIS WEEKS RACING PREVIEW

    This week’s racing has a mix of two- and four-wheel action in our region. The Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track will be in action as MRANN ends its spring desert-racing season. It’s the annual Corey Herring Memorial race but this time in a short track configuration.   On Saturday, from 8 to 10 a.m. the big bikes can practice then at 10:30 a.m. the Pee Wee riders take center stage.   • WHAT’S RACING FOR – JUNE 4-7

    What’s racing this weekend is packed days of motorsport action that has something for almost anybody. If the weather holds local race fans are in for a treat. On Friday, starting at 7 p.m., Lovelock Speedway has a make up race for the one rained out in May. Top Gun Raceway, located south of Fallon, hosts another $5 Friday where people can test and tune their cars on the drag strip.     This weekend’s racing will be a little less frantic that it was on Memorial Day Sunday. But there still is a pretty good variety for fans to choose from.   This afternoon there is a special event for youngsters. The AC/DC Bike Camp has demonstration rides at the Double Diamond Athletic Club.   • RACING PREVIEW – APRIL 30-MAY 2

     RACING PREVIEW FOR THE WEEKEND This week has both oval and drag racing for area fans.   Things begin Friday as Fernley 95A Speedway hosts the 2nd annual Dave Richardson & Leroy Kay Memorial race. It’s a Western Dwarf Car regional. On both Friday and Saturday qualifying begins at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m. These little speedsters usually put on quite a show.   • Racing Calendar for the Week of August 16/17

    • This week’s racing calendar features a unique form of motorsport, Trials. It’s not about speed but the rider’s control as they negotiate various obstacles.   The goal is earning the least amount of penalty points when a rider completes what ever course they are on. Put a foot on the ground or get stopped and a point is added, so the one with the lowest points is the winner. The Boreal Ridge Trials will be staged at the Boreal Ski Resort, just west of Donner Summit on I-80. Beginners and vintage bikes competing on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
