HOT RACING ON A COOL NIGHT AT RATTLESNAKE 2015 OPENING EVENT   FALLON (April 4) – In what’s becoming a tradition in area oval track racing, Rattlesnake Raceway opened its 2015 season Saturday of Easter weekend. Cool weather with some wind kept the air cool but the racing was hot on the track. “I was just being patient, started 10th but knew I had a long way to go. So I picked them off when I could as I wanted to bring the car home in one piece,” Shawn Natenstedt said after winning the IMCA Main. The action began even

  • SHOOT OUT ENDS 95A’S SEASON

FERNLEY (Oct. 12) – The Fernley 95A Speedway ended its season with a two-day marathon at the annual shoot out. Over 100 racers were on hand and Sunday afternoon ended with the IMCA Modified feature that closed the track’s year.   And the California driver that won was actually using the race to shake down a new motor. A decision that turned out to be profitable as he collected the winner’s prize. “We’re down here testing this crate for Vegas, so I think we picked the right track to do that,” Paul Stone said after post race tech. “It’s the

  • DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

FALLON (Oct. 4/5) — Rattlesnake Raceway ended its season with the annual Dirt Track Championships. However this year there was an unforeseen twist; rain canceled the scheduled date so the event was moved to the next weekend.   Sadly many cars that planned to be there weren’t. Despite this the event went on as planned and the drivers put on a display of hard racing. “I had to avoid a lot of stuff as the track went from real good to a real slick, slick, slick track,” Carl Barlow said after winning Saturday’s Hobby Stock main. “The car was real

  • 95A SEASON WINDS DOWN

FERNLEY (SEPT. 20) With only two races left in its points season things are heating up at the Fernley 95A Speedway. It’s go time for any driver that wants to win a championship or improve their points position.   Many times in racing patience plays an important part as does the knowledge of when to go, when to just kind of hang back and how a dirt track can change during a 30-lap race. When the green waved Don Childs was first on point with Robert Miller giving chase. Eventually Miller would take the point but behind him both Cory

This meant two nights of high speed IMCA Modified action and both winners also used it as a tune up for the Super Nationals in Boone, Iowa.   Both IMCA features were hard fought battles and a driver from Battle Mountain claimed Saturday’s victory. “We came over here as Cory (Sample) is going to haul my car to the Super Nationals. So I decided I’d race my son’s car as it’s a 2013 Addiction chassis,” Randy Artz said
