    Once again Stead Airport was alive with the sounds of racing aircraft but this time the pilots were coming to be schooled in the fine art of air racing.   STEAD (June 18) – The Pylon Racing Seminar made its annual visit to the airport here. Any pilot that wants to compete at the air races, is changing classes or hasn’t raced in a while has to go through this course. Veterans also attend as it’s a way to get more time on the course.   • F1 AIR RACING GOES INTERNATIONAL

    One of the classes at the Reno National Championship Air Races is International Formula One.   • CHAMPIONSHIP DAY AT THE AIR RACES

      STEAD AIRPORT (Sept. 14) – For the 51st year the sky north of Reno was filled with the sound of planes racing each other. The Reno National Championship Air Races is, with one exception, the only place on the planet where pilots race each other around a course.   And Sunday is when all the class champions are crowned after their individual Gold races.
