LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY: SATURDAY NIGHT RACES

LOVELOCK, NV (May 20) – Lovelock Speedway hosted the second point’s race of the year for the Nevada Pro Stock Association as well as IMCA Modifieds, the Outlaw Dwarf Cars and Hobby Stocks. For one Fallon driver it was a great night to say the least.

Travis White celebrates after winning the Nevada Pro Stock Association main.

“Wow, car was fast. I thought we lost the motor in the heat race and luckily it was just a valve cover gasket, rallied back, my crew was awesome. I want to thank Royce Goetz as he jumped in and helped so that was pretty awesome,” Travis White said after winning the Pro Stock main.

“Robert Miller, can’t thank you enough, Mike, who got us fastest in this car as he really helped us out. We totally ripped this car apart two days ago and I’m happy with the results.”

Then he thanked his sponsors, Battle Born Performance, Eternal Image, Miller Entertainment, Silver State Freight Brokerage, The Treasure Hut, R.J. landscaping, his family and a friend Stewart that came from Oregon.

A dozen cars took the green flag and Robert Mull as well as White had a brief dispute for the lead. White wound up on point but an early caution slowed things as Jay Sears headed for the pits to get a flat tire changed.

Rob Grace also took this opportunity to make a quick visit to the pits.

On the green White took off but this time Bill Pearson was behind him until Darrick Rauscher began to challenge for the spot.

It only took a few laps before the fastest cars were catching the slowest. As the race continued it became apparent that White had the car to beat since no one was really catching him.

With six to go another caution for debris slowed things while Pearson headed for the pits as his car was trailing smoke.

At that same time a radiator cap failure ended the night for Sears as the car disappeared into a cloud of steam after stopping on the infield.

When the green came out White took off but slowed again as Rauscher stopped in Turn 2 and was then hit after Terry Lawrence couldn’t avoid him.

Travis White takes the checkered flag as he wins the Pro Stock main.

After the final restart White took off again but now Gordy Russell jumped into second while Rob Grace took third and Robert Mull finished in fourth.

Next up were the Dwarf Cars and when their main began Tim Fitzpatrick was on point but soon was beginning to be challenged by Joe Frock. Behind them Calvin Ryle had taken third.

Tim Fitzgerald lead the Dwarf Car main for a long time before Joe Frock could get past him.

Early in the race there was the one caution for debris and at that same time Roy Peterson pitted.

On the green Fitzpatrick and Frock took off leaving everyone in their dust. Their private due for the lead continued for much of the race until Fock was able to use an inside move to take the lead.

After that Fock motored away to claim the victory while Fitzpatrick ended up second head of Glenn Sciarani, who finished third.

Joe Frock takes a victory lap after winning the Dwarf Car main.

After the race Frock said, “It took me a really long time, actually the track was very challenging, kind of one groove. It you went higher than the bottom groove it was so rough on these little cars. Had to work him, had to work him, finally I just got a good run coming out of 2.

“A couple of times I got up next to him but unfortunately a tractor tire put me back in my place. It was a good race, Tim drove a really good race, he was good in the heat race, which he won. Took everything I had to get by him then once we got by him felt pretty good.”

Then he thanked Damron Racing Las Vegas, Wild Island and R&J Landscaping.

After that the IMCA Modifieds got their turn on the track.

After the IMCA main began James Thibodeaux was being chased by J.D. Juard.

When that main began James Thibodeaux took off with J.D. Juard right behind him. Then Joel Myers used an inside move to take second while Travis White moved into third.

There was a caution when the rear end of Dan Pieretti’s car locked up. It took a bit but he was eventually pushed to the pits.

On the restart Thibodeaux and Myers took off with White holding down third place. Then, while going down the front straight White used an inside move to take second.

Not the top three were running close but soon White used another inside move to take the lead.

A caution debris slowed things down and Thibodeaux would have to pit with some kind of problems.

On the green White took off while Juard briefly held second until Myers took the spot.

Earlier Myers was involved in a chain reaction that apparently broke the steering in his left front wheel, which soon was almost 90 degrees to the left. These modifieds roll so much in the corner that it only slowed him down a bit as that wheel is barely touching the ground.

In the end White scored his second victory that night followed by Myers, Juard and Carl Barlow.

Travis White scored his second victory of the night when he won the IMCA main.

Later White said, “It’s been a good night.”

The evening began with the Hobby Stock main. Unfortunately there were only three of them and John Kontny only did one lap to help his daughter gain more points while she is healing from a foot injury.

Shayna Robinson just ran away with the race while Jeff Macedo ended up a distant second.

Shayna Robinson won the Hobby Stock main.

The speedway originally planned to have racing Memorial Day Friday but due to more work needed on the surface that has been canceled. The next scheduled race will be June 15th.
