RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 7 TO 10

RENO, NV (June 6) – This week’s Racing Preview is full of events going on in our area as well as what’s happening in the region and across the country.

The big event here is the annual Octane Fest in Fallon. While there will be no cars or go-kart racing at Rattlesnake Raceway there are other events there.

Friday night everything gets going around 6 p.m. with several different types of races. Then Saturday morning, starting at 9 a.m. the annual car show will be held at Walmart’s parking lot with burnouts starting at 11.

Saturday evening’s action starts around 5 p.m. with motocross races followed by a demolition derby and the night ends with fireworks.

For further information please check the attached schedule.

South of Fallon, at the Top Gun Raceway, there will be an NHRA Open event this weekend. Friday from noon until 5 p.m. is for test and tune.

Saturday and Sunday the action begins at 8 a.m. as racers time in then begin their eliminations after that.

There will be the national classes plus divisional and local Jr. Dragsters. In addition the local drivers will be competing in the Summit ET series as two rounds will be run over the weekend.

On Saturday evening, over in Quincy, California the American Valley Speedway is hosting another race and this time the Nevada Dwarf Cars will be visiting the track. Action begins at 7 p.m. after hot laps.

There is also a very different 2-day event going on Wild West Motorsport Park this weekend. It’s Super Crawl and while it might be a bit slow out has some outrageous, and hair-raising obstacles the competitors face.

Several courses are available and teams, the driver and observer team, has a time limit to get through them. In some places the cars are either going up near vertical or coming down while in others they can easily roll down the hill.

The starting times are 9 a.m. for both days and this is a unique event to say the least.

For the two-wheel crowd the three motocross tracks in Northern California will be operating.

E Street MX Park has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has practice Thursday from 5 until 19 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Prairie City is hosting the Sierra Old Timers as they stage a round of their national series. There is no Thursday practice but on the weekend gates open at 6 a.m., practice starts at 8 with racing to follow.

Our area is also blessed for some other non-racing events as well.

Tonight in Carson City the Thursday Night Cruises are beginning. These weekly events run through July 26, just before the Silver Dollar and Hot August Nights get going.

Things begin to roll at 5 until 7:30 p.m. and the meeting place tonight is at the Max Casino located at 900 South Carson Street.

Tomorrow Summit Racing begins its Friday night Cruise, actually a Show N’ Shine. These run all the way until September 28 but probably take one day off when Hot August Nights are here.

Saturday has two events one might want to check out.
