RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 21 TO 24

RENO, NV (June 20) – Racing Preview for this week is another full banquet. Selections are cruises and car shows, racing in this region as well as much motorsports to view on TV on the Internet.

• Cruise and Car Shows:

Friday’s cruise in Carson City, from 5 until 7:30 p.m. will start at Bully’s Sports Bar located at 3530 N. Carson Street.

That same night Sky Tavern hosts another of its Mountain Bike Races. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m. with the action beginning at 6 then at 8:30 they will show a movie.

Women with Wheelz

Women with Wheelz car show at Harrah’s Auto Museum is this Saturday.

The annual Women with Wheelz car show is Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. in the Harrah’s Auto Museum parking lot. Prizes for the contestants, some great looking cars to see and there is a raffle benefiting Moms on the Run.

On Sunday it’s the Doo Wop cruise night from 5:30 p.m. at Dough Boys located at 57 Damonte Ranch Parkway.

Wednesday, starting at 5 p.m. the A&W in Sparks, located at 1311 Baring Blvd. has another cruise night with live music.

• Live Racing:

Two drag racing events begin on Friday and go through Saturday.

Top Gun Raceway

The 775 Street Car Shootout is part of Friday’s action at Top Gun Raceway.

South of Fallon the Top Gun Raceway has $5 Fridays combined with the 775 Street Car Shootout. The action begins at 6 p.m.

Then on Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. the drag strip has round 6 of the Summit ET and Jr. Dragster series followed by the second round of the ET Challenge series.

To the east at the Good Times Drag Strip in Winnemucca it’s the Jumping June Drags.

Friday, starting at 6 p.m. there will be a test and tune session. The at 9 a.m. qualifying begins with racing starting after the Jr. Dragsters are finished,

Nevada Pro Stock Association

Gordon Russell Sr., Memorial Race features the Nevada Pro Stock Association and Hobby Stocks.

The big oval track race this weekend is at Cedarville, California where the Nevada Pro Stocks and Hobby Stocks run the Gordon Russell Sr. Memorial Race. The action begins at 6 p.m. at the Modoc District Fairgrounds.

Then on Sunday the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosts the next round of its points series with a 9 a.m. start time for the action.

• Motorcycles:

2018 I-80 Motocross Challenge

In Northeastern Nevada the 2018 I-80 Challenge motocross series has its second round in Carlin. Practice Saturday, is from 9 until 2 p.m. while racing begins at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Over the hill in Northern California three motocross tracks will have practice sessions this weekend.

Riverfront has their sessions from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. Prairie City will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

E Street MX Park has sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with both tracks available.

• TV Land and the Internet

As usual Thursday is a bit slim but at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 by NASCAR Race Hub.

This week NASCAR Cup is on the road course at Sonoma while the Xfinity series gets the weekend off. For the Cup teams this begins an 11-week run that ends the regular season before the Play Offs begin.

Friday begins at 11:30 a.m. with NASCAR Cup practice from Sonoma Raceway. Once again it’s a pretty slim day for racing on TV.

Saturday begins at 10:30 a.m. as Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Cup qualifying from Sonoma followed at 11:30 by NHRA qualifying from Norwalk, Ohio.

Pro Motocross Series

This week the Pro Motocross series is at Blountville, Tennessee. Will Eli Tomac continue his winning ways there.

This week the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series is at Blountville and once again there is split coverage of the motos.

MAVTV gets things rolling at 11 a.m. with the first motos then at noon NBC Sports picks it up with the second motos.

Finally at 5:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck race from Gateway.

Over on the Internet www.fanschoice.tv at 3:30 p.m. Berlin Raceway hosts the Helen Devos Children’s Hospital Super Hero Night. Should be some good short track oval racing there.

Now back to TV Land.

Laguna Seca, by Monterey, California, is the site of three races the beInSports newwork will broadcast. Sorry but don’t have the times however there will be the FIM Superbike races Saturday and Sunday followed by a Moto America event.

Sunday begins at 7:05 a.m. with the Formula 1 Grand Prix of France. Then at 9 a.m. CBS Sports has the DTM (German Touring Car.) series from Norising.

At 10 a.m. NBC Sports airs the Indy Car race from the classic road circuit at Road America while Fox Sports 1, starting at noon, has the NASCAR Cup Race from Sonoma Raceway.

This weekend the NASCAR Cup teams are on the road course at Sonoma Raceway.

Finally on a delayed basis, Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Summit Nationals from Norwalk, Ohio.
