RACING PREVIEW: AUGUST 9 TO 12

RENO, NV (Aug. 8) – Racing Preview for this week has another full plate of various events, especially in Northwest Nevada where Hot August Nights is in full swing.

CRUISES:

Hot August Nights

Hot August Nights is all about celebrating cars and both Reno and Sparks are full of things to do and see.

+ This year there are only two more cruises as part of Hot August Nights but there are many other things to do and see. The best way is to check the schedule at www.hotaugustnights.net

+There is one special event that is both part of the Show N’Shine at the Grand Sierra Casino and Spa. That’s the Women With Wheelz seminar on Thursday, which finishes when a car is awarded to a woman fighting cancer.

+ On Saturday at 11 a.m. Carson Cars and Coffee has a meeting of car people      at the Dutch Brothers, located at 1231 South Carson Street.

+ Then on Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. Sparks Cars and Coffee has a meeting      by the Sparks Target by Dunkin Donuts located close the Target store.

+ Finally if one wants to unwind join fellow car  people at DooWop@Doughboys, which starts at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The shop is located at      the south end      of the parking lot by the south WalMart.

RACING (LOCAL AND REGIONAL):

+ This weekend is a marathon for oval track fans.

+ Things get rolling in Fallon at Rattlesnake Raceway with the Outlaw Karts starting at 3 p.m. followed the cars that get going at 6 p.m.

+ Saturday’s race is at Fernley 95A Speedway where the Nevada Pro Stock      Association will race the next round of its season.

This is a special event as the night is to benefit the Juhl family. Both the husband and wife suffered burns in a pit accident at Fallon but Mr. Juhl needed to be flown to the burn center in Davis.

Although they are home the healing will take some time and track is trying to help them with their medical expenses.

+ Sunday, starting at 7 p.m. is the annual Fair Race at American Valley Speedway in Quincy, California. If fans get there early they can attend a great small county fair then go next door to the track for the races.

+ Over in Northern California all three motocross tracks will be in action with one of them hosting a race.

Prairie City has Friday practice from 5 until 10 p.m. then the track hosts      round 3 of the Stadiumcross series on Saturday. Practice begins at 4 p.m. with racing to follow.

+ Riverfront has practice session Thursday from 5 until 10 p.m. then from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday. E Street MX Park has practice sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL):

+ Now we head to TV Land with some Internet as well.

+ Thursday is pretty slim pickings so if you want to check out some races that have happened then try www.youtube.com for NASCAR and Indy Car events.

If you missed the AMA Amateur Nationals at Loretta Lynn’s www.racertv.com has replays of each day and another site to check out more racing is      www.lucasoilracing.tv.

+ Friday’s action begins on NBC Sports at 9:05 a.m. with practice for NASCAR Cup and the Camping World Trucks. The Xfinity series is at Mid-Ohio and their practice starts at 10:35 a.m. on the NBC Sports App.

+ On Saturday at 5:35 a.m. CNBC has Cup practice from Michigan then at 10      a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck Series race. Over at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Track at 8:30 a.m. the NBC Sports app has Xfinity qualifying followed at noon on NBC Sports with the race.

+ The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series is at Unadilla this weekend and once again coverage is split. MAVTV has the first motos beginning at 10 a.m. then at noon NBC has the second 450 moto followed at 4:30 p.m. as NBC Sports has the second 250 moto.

+ Switching over to the Internet at www.fanschoice.tv action on Saturday begins at 9:30 a.m. with the AMA Pro Hill Climb from Spring Creek. Starting at 3:30 p.m. there is are three races to be streamed starting at Berlin Raceway, then Meridian Speedway and ending at Langley Speedway.

+ Back to TV Land and Sunday where NBC Sports at 11:30 a.m. has the Monster      Energy NASCAR Cup race from Michigan.

+ Not to be left out CBS Sports also has a menu for race fans on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. with a German Touring Car race followed by Mobil 1 The Grid and 12:30 p.m. Formula Drift. The afternoon ends at 1 p.m. when the network airs a Lucas Oil Off-Road Series event.
