RACING PREVIEW: OCT. 11 TO 14

RENO, NV (Oct. 10) – Racing Preview this week is showing the slow down in racing as seasons are coming to an end. But there is still plenty of action to either watch on TV or the Internet.

CRUISE/CAR SHOWS:

  • Sunday has two events for car lovers.

First is the 7th annual Classic Chevy’s Fall Swap Meet at Baldini’s Casino. Set up starts at 6:30 a.m. and the show runs from 8 until 3 p.m.

The other event is the second weekend of the month meet staged by Sparks Cars and Coffee. Begins at 9 a.m. at Dunkin’ Donuts, which is located by the Target Store.

RACING (REGIONAL):

  • Saturday at noon Rattlesnake Raceway stages its annual Kris Kringle race, which is a charity event. It’s a fun event for all and if you’re going be sure to bring a toy or something you can donate.

Everything donated goes to local charities in Fallon.

Then at 6 p.m. the annual awards banquet begins at the convention center located by the junior college building.

Battle Born MX

  • Battle Born MX is heading to Carlin for the next round of the fall series. Practice starts at 9 a.m. Saturday as does racing on Sunday.

• • There is an important meeting Sunday at 4 p.m. regarding next season at Fernley 95A Speedway. It’s in the office so one just takes the spectator entrance and you’ll see the buildings before turning left into the regular parking lot.

If you like racing there and want the track to continue it would be a good idea to attend this meeting.

(Reporter’s Note: While on the radio I mentioned a race at one of the California MX tracks, I was in error and following is the schedule for this weekend.)

E Street MX Park has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has Thursday practice from 5 until 10 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Finally there is access to Prairie City and they have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday while the Arenacross track has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. that same day.

  • As usual Thursday is a slow day but at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR American while Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. airs NASCAR Race Hub.

Fans Choice TV at 2:45 p.m. will have an IMSA Porsche GT3 race.

It’s also a good day to check You Tube for any races you may have missed.

• Friday starts at 7:05 a.m. as Fox Sports 2 has NASCAR Truck Practice from Talladega followed at 2:35 p.m. by the trucks qualifying,

Over on Fox Sports 1 at 2:30 p.m. is NHRA Friday Nitro Live. Then www.imsa.tv has Weather Tech Sports Car qualifying from Atlanta.

Now back to TV Land.

For motocross and Supercross fans the big event of the year is here, the AMA Supercross Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas. Fox Sports 2, at 6:30 p.m. broadcasts this annual wild, action packed event,

• Sunday begins at 11 a.m. as NBC broadcasts the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup event from Talladega, the biggest oval these cars compete on.

NASCAR Cup

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup series races at Talladega this Sunday.

The day is usually a wild one, especially when there is the “big one,” a crash that will take out a large portion of the field. Since it’s the playoffs, a good finish can either make or break a driver’s effort to win the championship

Over on Fox Sports 1 at 10 a.m. there is the Nitro Sunday Live broadcast followed at 11 a.m. by the NHRA Carolina Nationals at Charlotte. Unlike most drag strips this one is 4-Wide which means many times four cars will race against each other.

The finals use only two of the four lanes

That’s it for this week so if you have a chance do get out and see one of the remaining races this season. If not then settle in to watch one on TV or stream it on the Internet.

Have a safe weekend everyone.
