After dinner Petersen introduced the board that includes vice president Mike McMordie, Secretary Kari Gonzalez, and Brandi Simmons Coclich as well as Gina Gonzalez who worked the raceceiver and posted results on My Laps.

Then it was time to hand out the hardware with the champion being honored first.

“It’s been a great year, comradeship and good time, that’s what it’s all about,” Jay Sears said after accepting the champion’s trophy. “Have to thank Travis and his wife as I would not be racing if it wasn’t for them.”

For Sears it capped off a good year but he only wound up seven points ahead of runner up combination of Robert Miller/Travis White. Following them was third place Bill Pearson driving the Nuclear Banana car owned by his uncle B.J. Pearson.

Fourth Place was Tyler Jones with Mike McMordie fifth in points. Winning Rookie of the year was Dale Tatum, who ended up 12th in the overall points championship.

Robert Miller had a special award for the Crew Chief of the Year. It was a huge wrench and it was given to Carlos Funes as he is the crew chief for the car Sears drives.

Then Petersen spoke about the season past as well as looking ahead to 2019. The series will now be part of the Tri-State Challenge series for Pro Stocks.

Currently NPSA has eight races on its schedule but that might increase in the next few months. One special race Petersen talked about was a September event in Stockton with a $5000 to win prize.

He also indicated the $1,000 to win prize will hold for the next year but they are looking for ways to increase the purse so they can pay down to everyone in a race.

After the awards Miller got his karaoke set up going and there was much singing as well as dancing.
