RACING PREVIEW: DECEMBER 13 TO 16

RENO, NV (Dec. 12) – Racing Preview for this week shows we’re deep into the end of the year ReRun Zone. However there are still things to do and watch.

CARS/MOTORCYCLES:

Euro Sunday

  • On Sunday from noon until 2 p.m., it’s the Euro Sunday Stuffed Animal Toy Drive held at 525 Reactor. Bring a stuffed toy and help make a child’s Christmas a bit brighter.
Reno Cas & Coffee

Reno Cars & Coffee announcement.

  • Reno Cars and Coffee is holding its third weekend of the month gathering. The meet begins at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Robb Driver Starbucks located at 1610 Rob Drive.
  • (Reporter’s note: Received the following after I published this.) The Sparks Cars and Coffee will also have a car meet on Sunday. Starts at 10 a.m. and is at the Dunkin’ Donuts located by the Sparks Target store.

•    Remember Testa Motorsports is holding its annual toy drive that goes until December 19. This year some of those toys will be headed over to California to help the kids whose parents lost everything in the fire that wiped out Paradise.

•    Two motocycle shops in Reno are hosting their annual Christmas Party/Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday.

RMS, or Reno Motorsports at 964 Terminal Way, close to Mill Street has a huge sale plus Christmas treats. Another special part of this celebration is there will be free pictures with Moto Santa.

Not far away Moto-Source at 3180 Mill Street is hosting its annual Customer Appreciation party. There will be food and drink not to mention a great sale and give aways all day.

This is a good time to buy a gift for that motorcycle rider in your life or pick up things so you can be ready for the New Year’s riding. Both of these Christmas parties are fun times and great places to just hang out.

RACING (REGIONAL):

  • The message on the REP MX racing hot line was a bit confused but they are watching to see if an incoming storm system is going to affect practice and racing for this weekend.

If all goes well they’ll get in the final two rounds of the Best In The West 2018 series. The series will be at Prairie City Arenocross track on Saturday then move over to the National Track on Sunday.

Best bet is to call the hotline at 775-265-7223 on Friday to hear the current update. That way you’ll know about all three tracks and what is planned.

RACING (TV AND INTERNET):

  • Switching to TV Land Thursday starts at 12:30 p.m. on www.MAVTV.com as they start with Super Cup Stock Car Series followed by Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

Then at 4 p.m. Speed Sport has the Red Bluff Outlaws West Coast Nationals and an hour later there is Madera Racing.

As usual Friday is the time to check out www.youtube.com and www.fanschoice.tv for races you might want to see again or missed. Another source is www.racertv.com.

•    Saturday gets off to an early start as Fox Sports 2 has Formula E qualifying from Ad Dirlyah at 2:30 a.m. then at 3:30 a.m. they race broadcast the race.

Formula E is in action this Saturday. This electric powered series goes all over the world.

Formula E are open wheel formula cars but powered by electric motors. So the teams must figure the power requirements, how they will use it and to be sure there is enough energy in the batteries to finish the race.

Back to MAVTV and at 9 a.m. they show racing from this past summer’s Loretta Lynn Amateur NMX Nationals followed by Lucas Oil Pro Motocross from High Point.

•    Sunday begins at 11 a.m. back on MAVTV as the network airs reruns of races from this year.

Over on CBS Sports they begin at 3 p.m. with the World of Outlaws Finals followed by Lucas Oil Off Road Series then at 6 p.m. the SCCA Run Offs from Sonoma and this time I believe its Formula Vee followed at 7 p.m. by Power Nation.

Not to be left out NBC Sports at 5 p.m. has the Xfinity Series awards.

That’s it for this weekend, safe driving out there and enjoy the holidays. If you can do contribute to one of the toy drives in your area.
