RACING PREVIEW: JAN.10 TO13

RENO, NV (Jan 9) – Racing preview for this weekend finds us still stuck in the Rerun Zone but there are green flags ahead for the racing fan. Only a week or so to go.

CAR MEETS:

Sparks Cars & Coffee

Sparks & Coffee has a meet this Sunday at the Sparks Dunkin’ Donuts.

  • As usual Sparks Cars and Coffee are having the second-weekend-of-the-month meet on Sunday. Winter hours are from 10 a.m. until noon and the location is at the Sparks Dunkin’ Donuts, 425 Sparks Blvd., by the Target store.

RACING (REGIONAL):

  • Still no racing yet in our area but we’re about a month from the first event, a desert race put on the MRANN.

•    Over the hill word is that E Street MX Park, Riverfront and Prairie City are all closed through Friday. A storm is forecast and they have to see what happens however there may be practice sessions scheduled for this weekend.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

  • There are two international events highlights in this Racing Preview.
  • First is the DAKAR Rally still going on until the 18th, NBC Sports has recaps. There will be two shows, starting at 3 p.m. today.

•   Also in this Racing Preview is that www.mavtv.com is carrying the lion’s share of offering event coverage although it’s all reruns.

Starting at noon the line up is Powri Racing, Super Cup Stock Car Series. Following those two are Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Then comes Speed Sport and at 5 p.m. Madera Racing.

• The next live event in this Racing Preview is on Saturday starting at 5:30 a.m. as Fox Sports 2 has Formula E qualifying. Then at 6:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 airs the Formula E race from Marrakesh.

FIM Sidecarcross

FIM Sidecarcross is featured in Saturday’s TV line up.

There is more racing on MAVTV Saturday beginning at noon with Lucas Oil Saturday Night Racing followed by Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and some insane FIM Sidecarcross racing followed by Lucas Oil ASCS.

The big race in this Racing Preview is on Saturday when the second round of this year’s Monster Energy Supercross is run. NBC Sports covers it starting at 6 p.m. from Glendale, Arizona.

  • Sunday gets going at 3 p.m. on CBS Sports with Lucas Oil Off Road Racing.

Back to MAVTV starting at 3 p.m. they have Lucas Oil Off Road Racing, Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing and Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League. Then there is Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions followed by Short Track America.
