RACING PREVIEW: FEB. 7 TO 10

RENO, NV (Feb. 6) – Racing Preview for this week has two national series starting their 2019 seasons as well as a desert race that continues until Friday. Yes our time in the Rerun Zone is coming to an end.

CARS/MEETS:

  • It’s the second weekend of the month and that means Sparks Cars & Coffee is having a meet at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Sparks. Things get rolling at 10 a.m. and the location is close to the Sparks Target store just off Sparks Blvd.

RACING (STATE AND REGIONAL):

  • Depending on the weather, the MMX track will host a practice session from 9 until 2 p.m. Thursday. Then this weekend they plan to host round 2 of the Am Shootout series.

Thursday practice sessions for E Street, Riverfront and Prairie City are canceled. Since there is another storm coming it before heading over there check the website www.repracingmx.com or the hotline at 775-265-7223 before heading to the track.

RACING (NATIONAL):

•    Racing preview highlights two major series starting this weekend while one classic off-road event is happening right now and goes through Friday.

It’s King of the Hammers week as the racers competing with Ultra 4 start their season. The website, which includes a link to the live feed is www.ultra4racing.com.

Another place to see the live feeds plus what has run is at www.youtube.com/king+of+the-hammers.

Now onto the TV and Internet happenings, some of which are still in the Rerun Zone.

• On Friday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.

Over on www.mavtv.com they have a bunch of last year’s races starting at noon with Powri Racing, followed by Super Cup Stock Car Racing, Lucas Oil Drag Boats, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The afternoon ends with Speed Sport and Madera Racing.

•    Friday on Racing Preview has the start of the NHRA season. This year there is a new place to watch what happens at these drag races and it’s www.nhra.tv.

At 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 they show NHRA Friday Night Nitro live. An hour later Mavtv has Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series live from East Bay Raceway Park.

FIM Sidecarcross.

•    Things pick up on Saturday as Mavtv, starting at 10 a.m. has a repeat of this Lucas Oil Chili Bowl, followed by the Tulsa Shoot out and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Following that is another edition of the wild FIM Sidecarcross events from Latvia.

Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports has NHRA Saturday Nitro Live. Switching over to NBC Sports at 5 p.m. one can see this week’s round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross from Minneapolis.

Unlike , last week’s mud bog in San Diego this week they’ll race in a covered stadium.

Over at the Daytona International Speedway things are getting going and as usual Speedweek’s racing begins with the traditional ARCA race.

(LATE CORRECTION: At first it appeared the ARCA race would not be televised but Fox Sports 1 will show it beginning at 1:45 p.m., Pacific Daylight Time.)

•    Sunday in this Racing Preview is a busy day for race fans

NASCAR

NASCAR begins its season this weekend as everyone gets ready for the Daytona 500 next week.

Fox starts the day rolling at 9 a.m. with NASCAR Cup Qualifying for the Daytona 500. Unlike other races this only sets the front row as everyone else has to race for the remaining spots in the Dual races next Thursday.

Following qualifying at noon Fox airs the NASCAR Cup Advance Auto Parts Clash for last year’s pole winners.

NHRA

The NHRA begins its season this weekend with the Winter Nationals at Pomona, California. Here Steve Torrence gets ready for a run.

Then, starting at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals from Pomona, California. If there ever is a ground-shaking event this would be it.

Not to be left out CBS Sports has snowmobile racing at 9 a.m. then at 4 p.m. will air a repeat of this year’s Race of Champions from Mexico City.

That’s it for this weekend. Spring can’t be too far away as racing gets rolling for the year.
