RACING PREVIEW: FEB. 21 TO 24

RENO, NV (Feb. 20) – Racing Preview for this week highlights two meets, a cruise, motocross action over the hill and what’s on TV. We’re finally emerging from winter’s Rerun Zone as racing ramps up for the season ahead.

MEETS & CRUISES:

Northern Nevada Camaro Club

  • The Northern Nevada Camaro Club will meet at Summit Racing, 960 East Glendale in Sparks on Saturday. Things begin at 10 a.m. then at 11 a.m. the day’s cruise begins.

•     Further south on Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. Carson Cars & Coffee has a meet at Dutch Brothers Coffee in south Carson.

So if you’re a car person here’s two things where you can meet other car people.

RACING (REGIONAL):

  • Northern Nevada Kart Club is hosting two Driver’s Seminars. The first starts at 10 a.m. this Saturday and is focused on driving etiquette, safety flags and learning the track.

While a kart isn’t required those attending can bring one and after the seminar take to the track to hone their skills.

NNKC

Race Seminar for NNKC has been postponed and moved to March 2nd.

REPORTER’S NOTE: Thursday afternoon received word the Seminar was canceled because there is too much snow on the track. It was been postponed and will happen Saturday, March 2 with the same starting time.

The location is Desert Park Raceway located about a quarter mile past the end of the pavement for Lemmon Drive. Military Road is the best access, follow the detour signs as part of Lemmon Drive may be closed due to flooding.

Over the hill MMX is hosting AMA District 36 as they present an European Scramble this weekend. After the rains the dirt should be great.

Saturday’s first race begins at 8:30 a.m. with six races to follow. On Sunday things get rolling at 8 a.m. as the big bikes take to the course.

•     This week’s Loretta Lynn area qualifier has moved to Prairie City. Thursday is for camping only and not practice. Gates open at 7 a.m. Friday then from 10 until 3 p.m. is practice.

Gates open at 6 a.m. on the weekend. On Saturday practice begins at 8 a.m. with racing to follow and the same for Sunday although there will be no camping that night.

E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has Thursday practice from 4 until 9 p.m. then practice is from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

  • Now Racing Preview heads over to TV Land where NASCAR is having a triple-header in Atlanta.

Thursday at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR America, following at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 with NASCAR Race Hub.

•     Fox Sports 1 is carrying the load Friday starting at noon with Xfinity practice followed by Gander Outdoors Truck Series practice. Then at 2 p.m. the NASCAR Cup drivers qualify for Sunday’s race.

This week on Racing Preview the NHRA is making the second stop in it season at Chandler, Arizona. At 8 p.m. Friday is when Friday Nite Nitro airs on Fox Sports 1.

•     Saturday gets rolling at 6:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has Xfinity Series qualifying followed an hour later with Truck Series qualifying.

Then at 11 a.m. the Xfinity racers take the green flag and at 1:30 p.m. the Gander Outdoor Truck Series starts its race. Finally at 4 p.m. the network has NHRA Saturday Nitro.

Then at 5 p.m. NBC Sports has same day delayed broadcast of the AMA Supercross series, this time from Detroit.

REPORTER’S NOTE: www.beinsports.com is supposed to be airing the Superbike World Championship race from Phillip Island, Australia. Unfortunately the way that network lists everything it’s very hard to find the times the Saturday and Sunday races are aired.

•     Racing Preview has a busy Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. as Fox broadcasts the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Then at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs the NHRA Arizona Nats from Chandler. A real ground shaking event if there ever was one.

At that same time www.mavtv.com has more reruns starting with Lucas Oil Drag Boat racing followed by Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League. Then its time for Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions and the afternoon ends with Short Track America.
