RACING PREVIEW: MAY 9 TO 12

RENO, NV (May 8) – Racing Preview for this week has several races happening in our region. There are also some car and cruise events as well as things to watch on TV and the Internet.

CARS AND CRUISES:

• Racing Preview has two local car events this weekend. Things start at 6 p.m. Friday at Summit Racing Equipment, 960 East Glendale, with another Cruise in evening.

It’s a great way to wind down from the work week as well as meet other car people or just admire the cars on display.

On Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. by the Sparks Dunkin’ Donuts is when the Sparks Cars and Coffee will host its monthly meet. Another chance to see some great cars and meet other like-minded people.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• There are several events highlighted in this week’s Racing Preview.

Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California gets things rolling at 7 p.m. Friday with their second race of the season.

To the east Lovelock Speedway is in action starting around 6 p.m. Saturday. This weekend the Northern Nevada Winged Sprints will be at the track.

Fernley 95A Speedway is also in action starting at 6 p.m. Saturday.

• Battle Born MX (BBMX) is hosting the next round of its spring season at the Fernley Motocross track. The Old Timer’s Motorcycle Club is the host for this round.

Saturday is for practice then around 9 a.m. Sunday the first gate should drop to get the motos going.

• Over the hill MMX in Marysville will have practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Prairie City is closed until after the Hang Town Nationals but E Street MX Park has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Riverfront is hosting the first round of the REP Racing Summer Series. Thursday there will be practice from 5 until 10 p.m. and Friday is for those wanting a space to camp.

Saturday is race day, gates open at noon with practice starting at 4 p.m. with racing to follow. Then, for those staying over there will be Sunday practice from 9 until 2 p.m.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Once again on Racing Preview there are a bunch of events to watch and enjoy.

• Thursday is still slim but at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR America then at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.

• Friday gets rolling at 1:30 p.m. when NBC Sports has Indy Car qualifying from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. However this is getting everyone ready to race the road course.

Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Nascar Cup qualifying from Kansas then at 5:30 p.m. the network airs the Gander Outdoors Truck Series race from Kansas.

Over on the Internet www.fanchoice.tv at 3 p.m. streams a race from Stafford Motor Speedway as the Whelen Modified Series takes to the track.

• Saturday has an early start atr 5:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 broadcasts Formula 1 qualifying from Catalunya, Spain. Then at 12:30 p.m. NBC has the Indy Car Grand Prix from Indianapolis.

Fox Sports 1 also has two events with the first starting at 8:30 a.m. showing Formula E racing at Monaco. I’m assuming they use the Grand Prix course so that could be interesting seeing electric cars racing there.

Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Kansas.

Switching back to the Internet fanschoice.tv at 1:30 p.m. has an American Flat Track race from the Perris Auto Speedway in Southern California. This is followed by a series of short track races from across the country.

• Sunday gets an early start at 5:30 a.m. when ESPN 2 broadcasts the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Spain.

This weekend www.motortrendondemand.com is showing several events both Saturday and Sunday. Please check the website for the full listings.
