RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 13 TO 16

RENO, NV (June 12) – Racing Preview has a host of car/cruise events as well as regional, national and international racing. It seems summer is finally here and things are rolling along.

CARS/CRUISES:

• This week’s Thursday cruise in Carson City, from 5 until 7:30 p.m. will start at Bully’s Sports Bar. It’s located at 3530 North Carson Street.

• Another event running Friday through Sunday is the annual Yerington Main Street Car Show. Friday is from 5 until 7 p.m. with a free BBQ for entrants.

Saturday hours are 10 until 4:30 p.m. with a Chili Feed Show N’ Shine. Sunday should start the same time with Coffee and Donuts.

* Summit Racing at East Glendale in Sparks has the Friday night cruise from 6 until 8 p.m. with a DJ and a raffle. It’s a good way to unwind for the weekend.

• Up on the Comstock Saturday, and a great way to get out of the heat, is the Women With Wheelz Car show on Saturday from 9 until 3 p.m. and the location is by the Silverland Hotel.

There are several prizes plus entrants and their partners and/or husbands get a free brunch. Sisters on the Fly will bring some vintage trailers and there╒s a special trailer full of retro style dresses and other things that will be at the show.

• Also on Saturday is the 19th annual Show N’ Shine at the Bonanza Casino from 10 until 4 p.m. and the casino is located on North Virginia Street.

• Another Saturday show is at the Aces High Rally and Car Show. It runs from 10 until 5 p.m. and is hosted by the Shops at Heavenly Valley.

• Sunday finds Reno Cars and Coffee, from 10 until noon at Classic Rock Coffee. The shop is located at 5150 Mae Anne near the intersection with McCarren Avenue.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• Racing Preview got a late notice that Lovelock Speedway canceled its race for this Saturday and their next race is scheduled for Saturday, July 6.

On Saturday Fernley 95A Speedway is where the Nevada Pro Stock Association will finally get its season started since their first race was rained out. Action begins at 6 p.m. and the annual Buehn Hobby Stock Classic is also on the racing card as well as IMSA Modifieds and other classes.

• North of Reno at the Honey Lake MX track MRANN will be racing the “Go Big or Go Home” European Scrambles. The event honors Corey Herring and is a fund-raiser for scholarships named in his honor.

Saturday has three separate races beginning with the Pee Wees at 9 a.m. followed by the Women, Bombers and Vintage bikes. Then at 1 p.m. all mini, 65 amateurs and experts get their chance.

The big bikes go on Sunday but in separate races. At 8 a.m. the Amateurs go followed at 10 a.m. by the Experts and at 1 p.m. the Novice riders to close out the day.

• Here are the practice schedules for the Northern California motocross tracks.

MMX in Marysville is open from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Just in case their hotline is 530-419-5200.

REP Racing has all of its tracks going and this schedule is good through July 1.

E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has Thursday practice from 5 until 10 p.m. and from 9 until 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Racing Preview has a bunch of events in TV Land as well as streaming on the Internet.

Thursday gets rolling early as www.motortrendondemand.com has the second and third qualifying sessions from Le Mans starting at 9:45 in the morning.

Then at 2 p.m. NBC Sports airs NASCAR America.

• As usual Friday’s fare is a bit slim. Fox Sports 1 at 4:30 p.m. has NHRA Friday Night Nitro Live. This day is also a good time to catch up on any races a fan has missed and you can see some of them on www.youtube.com.

• It’s another early Saturday and things begin at 5 p.m. when www.motortrendondemand.com begins its live broadcast of this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s a twice around the clock classic endurance race.

This week the Pro Motocross series is at Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania and as usual if one has subscribed to NBC Sports Gold they can see all the motos without any channel switching.

Over on www.mavtv.com they will air the first 250 moto at 10 a.m. followed at 11 a.m. with the first 450 moto. Then at noon NBC has the second 450 moto with the second 250 moto being shown at 1 p.m. on NBC Sports.

This weekend the NASCAR Cup teams are off but there is still racing and it’s from Iowa.

Fox Sports 1 things get going at noon with Xfinity practice followed at 2:30 with truck qualifying. Then at 5:30 p.m. the network has the Gander Outdoors Truck series race.

Finally at 7:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Saturday Nitro Live from Bristol.

• Switching over to www.fanschoice.tv there are a bunch of events being streamed on Saturday.

Things begin at 9:30 a.m. with an American Flat Track race from the Laconia Short Track followed at 3:30 p.m. by a Father’s Day celebration event from Berlin Raceway. Beginning at 4 p.m. there are races from Langley Speedway, Thompson Speedway, Meridan Speedway and at 6 p.m. a race from All American Speedway.

• Switching back to TV Land Sunday has continuing coverage of the 24 Hours of LeMans that ends at 6:30 a.m. as the entire event is covered on Motor Trend on Demand.

Then at 11 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals from Bristol as the straight-line racers offer their earth shaking style of racing.

Later in the day, at 2:30 p.m. the network has the Xfinity race from Iowa. The race should have a mix of Cup drivers as well as series regulars competing.

That’s it for this weekend, if possible do get out and see a race live. There is nothing like it and a fan can see more than you can on TV, not to mention really feeling the color, speed and excitement.
