RACING PREVIEW – JULY 4 TO 7

RENO, NV (July 3) – Once again the Racing Preview is full of car meets, a parade and Fireworks with some racing mixed in. It’s going to be a great 4th of July.

CAR MEETS:

• The 4th gets rolling early as the Fernley Klazzic Kruizers and others gather at the Wig Wam for registration beginning at 8 a.m. then at 9 a.m. they join the parade through town to the Out-Of-Town Park. After that their show n’ shine will begin with fireworks going off around 9:30 that evening.

• Further east in Fallon there is a 4th of July parade and racers are invited to bring their cars. The gathering place is by the middle school as the parade begins at 9 a.m.

• Friday has a cruise in at Summit Racing located at 960 East Glendale in Sparks. The meet is from 6 until 8 p.m. and there is a D.J. plus raffle prises.

• As it’s the first Sunday of the Month Reno Cars & Coffee will have their meet, starting at 10 a.m. at the Kietzke Starbucks. It’s a great way to meet car people and wind down from the holiday.

• Next Wednesday there is another car meet at the Sparks A&W, across from Reed High School. Things get rolling at 5 p.m. and go until closing. There is also a prize for the best looking car.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville gets the weekend rolling with two days of racing.

On the 4th of July the action begins at 7 p.m. with an additional payout for the IMCA Modifieds and there should be fireworks at the end of the show.

On Friday the 5th the show begins at 7 p.m. and is a repeat of the previous night. Besides the IMCA Modifieds there will be Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks and Gen-X cars.

• The 4th of July tradition continues at Rattlesnake Raceway, located east of downtown Fallon as the track has its annual races. The facility is also the site of the town’s fireworks show.

After the parade downtown the Outlaw Karts will be at the track and starting their program at noon. Then at 6 p.m., or around there, the cars start racing.

• Lovelock Speedway is in action Saturday, July 6th to continue the holiday with a 7 p.m. start to the racing. If there are enough cars the IMCA and Hobby Stock winners will pocket $500 and if seven sprint cars are on hand that winner will get $300.

• Over the Hill in Northern California four motocross tracks will have practice sessions while one of them had racing.

+ MMX has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

+ E Street MX Park has a private ride day Saturday and there is practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

+ Riverfront is closed Thursday but will host Round 3 of the Saturday Night Series. Gates open at noon, practice at 4 p.m. with racing to follow then there is practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on Sunday.

+ Prairie City has Thursday practice from 9 until 2 p.m. then practice those same times for Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• This weekend NASCAR returns to its spiritual home Daytona Beach, Florida.

Thursday gets rolling at 10 a.m. on NBC Sports with Xfiinity practice then at 11 a.m. with NASCAR Cup practice from Daytona. At 2 p.m. the network airs NASCAR America.

• On Friday NBC Sports has Xfinity qualifying at 12:30 followed at 2 p.m. as the NASCAR Cup drivers qualify. Then at 4:30 p.m. the network airs the Xfinity race.

Over on Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. there is NHRA Friday Nitro Live. Later at 9:40 p.m. www.motortrendondemand.com has race 1 for the Virgin Australian Supercars from Townsville.

• Saturday is another busy day both in TV Land and on the Internet.

This week the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross race is at the Red Bud track, once again only those that subscribed to NBC Sports Gold won’t have to switch channels.

MAVTV gets things going at 10 a.m. with the first 450 moto then follows that at 11 a.m. with the first 250 moto. Then NBC picks up the second 450 moto at noon and, on a delayed basis, the second moto is shown at 4 p.m. on NBC Sports.

Fox Sports 1 at 11 a.m. has the NHRA Saturday Night live at at 7:15 p.m. Motor Trend on Demand has race 2 from the Virgin Australian Supercar series from Townsville.

NASCAR Cup

The big race of the day is the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Daytona and NBC will carry the event beginning at 4 p.m. The Cup teams won’t race on the high banks again until next year at the Daytona 500 in February.

Switching over to the Internet several races are going to be streamed on www.fanschoice.tv. Starting at 12:05 p.m. is the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge from Canada.

Following that at 3 p.m. a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race from Berlin Raceway is show then at 3:30 p.m. a 4th of July celebration from the track.

Next up is the Virginia Sprints from Langley Speedway at 4 p.m. followed by an event from All American Speedway. Next, at 5:55 p.m. is the Firecracker 50 from Tucson Speedway then events from Alaska Raceway Park and at 7:30 p.m. the IMSA Prototype Challenge from Canada.

• On Sunday at 10 a.m. NBC has the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Challenge race from Canada. At that same time Fox Sports 1 has the New England Nationals from Epping, New Hampshire.

Finally the weekend ends at 1 p.m. on CBS Sports with a DTM (German Touring Car) event from Norisring.
