RACING PREVIEW: JULY 11 TO 14

RENO, NV (JULY 10) – Racing Preview again has a passel of Shown N’ Shines, Cruises and much racing. Summer is here so the weather, racing and car shows are hot.

SHOW N’ SHINES/CRUISES:

• This week’s Carson City Thursday night cruise, from 5 until 7:30 p.m. starts in Carson City at Bully’s Sports Bar located at 3530 N. Carson Street.

• Friday is when Summit Racing, 960 E. Glendale in Sparks, from until 8 p.m. has its Friday night cruise in. There will be a DJ for music, a raffle and usually vendors for food as well as ice cream.

A great way to wind down the workweek.

• Back to Carson City on Saturday for the Downtown Revival Car Show located at 5 Street and Robinson. Hours are 10 until 3 p.m. so it should be a great chance to see more cars.

• Sunday has two Show N’ Shines with Sparks Cars and Coffee having the early one, starting at 9 a.m. and they are at their new place, Buffalo Wild Wings located at 1560 East Lincoln Way.

• Sunday winds down when the Gearheads Community Clubhouse presents the Collector Car Appreciation Day at Reed High School. Things get going at noon with a 6 p.m. closing time.

There will be food, music and trophies, which are handed out at 5 p.m. and the show is part of SEMA’s Fight Unfair Automotive Laws program.

• Next Wednesday Sparks A&W, across the street from Reed High School, has another Show N’ Shine starting at 5 p.m. and going until closing. Great cars to see, people to meed and a D.J. will supply the music.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• Top Gun Drag Strip gets the weekend rolling with $5 Fridays. Things get started at 6 p.m. and go until midnight with testing and grudge racing.

Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., has round 7 of the Summit ET and Jr. Dragster series as well as the third round of the ET Challenge, Jr. Drag Challenge and TNT.

Sunday, also starting at 9 a.m. has round 8 of the Summit ET and Jr. Dragster series.

• A pair oval tracks are running Friday night and both start at 7 p.m. North of Reno in Susanville, California the Diamond Mountain Speedway hosts another of its regular shows.

To the east Winnemucca Regional Speedway hosts another of its regular shows.

• Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. is when Fernley 95A Speedway hosts another of its regular shows. This includes IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks and Gen-X.

• Over the hill four Northern California motocross tracks will have practice session.

MMX Racing will have practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information please call their hot line at 530-419-5200.

River Front has a practice session Thursday evening from 5 until 10 p.m. then a session from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Finally E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday gets going on at 1 p.m. on NBC Sports as they broadcast the Gander Outdoors Truck Series qualifications from Kentucky. Then at 2 p.m. they air NASCAR America followed at 4:30 p.m. with the truck series race.

• Friday begins at 8:30 a.m. when NBC Sports has the first NASCAR Cup practice followed at 1p.m. with Xfinity series qualifying then at 3 p.m. with Cup qualifying. Finally at 4:30 p.m. the network airs the Xfinity series race.

• Fox gets Saturday going at 1 p.m. with the first of two Formula E races from New York City. These electric racers take to the streets of the Big Apple.

Six decades of racing at Daytona on the 4th of July weekend ended last week. This week the Cup cars will race in Kentucky.

Then as 4:30 p.m. NBC Sports has the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Kentucky. Over on Fox Sports 2 at 5 p.m. they show same-day-delayed Moto America from Laguna Seca.

• Switching out of TV Land to the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has a host of racing events to stream that day. Following are some of the highlights but there are more if one checks out the schedule.

At 1 p.m. the American Flat Track series is at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, New York then at 3:30 p.m. Ladies Night from Berlin Raceway is streamed. Finally at 5:45 p.m. they stream the Boise State Alumni Night from Meridan Speedway.

• Now back to TV Land for Sunday’s schedule. ESPN 2 gets things rolling at 6:05 a.m. with the Grand Prix of Britain from the classic course at Silverstone. The race is repeated at 3 p.m. on ESPN News.

NBC Sports, at 12:30 p.m. has the Indy Car race from Toronto while, at that same time, Fox Sports 1 has the second Formula E race from New York City. Then Fox Sports 2 has same day delayed coverage of Moto America #2 from Laguna Seca.

• This week there is one more race but this one is on Monday from Bowman Gray Stadium. Fans Choice carries it as Monday Night Madhouse, a great name because racing  in the tight confines of that stadium things is action packed and crazy.
