RACING PREVIEW: AUGUST 1 TO 4

RENO, NV (July 31) – Racing Preview this week is full of meets, cruises and racing as we head into Hot August Nights. We’re also blessed with wonderful summer weather.

SHOW ‘N SHINES & CRUISES:

 • Thursday night cruises in Carson City have ended and at least for a week so have the Friday Cruise In at Summit Racing. Have to see if they’ll start up again in a couple of weeks.

• Virginia City, on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. is where this year’s Hot August Nights gets rolling. For further information and to see the schedule please check their website at www.hotaugustnights.net.

• On Sunday the Bonanza Casino hosts its 11th annual Pre-Kick Off party from 2 until 6 p.m. The Show N’ Shine benefits those working to find a cure for Prostate Cancer.

• Sunday is when Reno Cars & Coffee has its first weekend of the month show ‘n shine starting at 10 a.m. by the Kietzke Starbucks. Should be another good turn out with a bunch of interesting cars.

• Hot August Nights really gets going down here in Reno and Sparks on Tuesday with show n’ shines, cruises, drag racing at the Nugget, trailers on display at Rancho San Rafael and other things. Best advice is to check with the event’s website listed earlier in this article.

Three great places to see the cars are the Atlantis Casino, Peppermill Casino and GSR as each venue has cars as well as some cruising in and out as well as entertainment. In addition there are nightly cruises in downtown Reno as well as Sparks.

• Next Wednesday remember the show ‘n shine at the Sparks A&W across from Reed High School. The fun starts at 5 p.m. and goes until closing with a D.J. supplying the period music. It’s a nice low-key event and a great day to wind down from a workday.
