RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY: FIRST AUGUST RACE

FALLON, NV (Aug. 10) – Nice mild weather greeted fans and racers at Rattlesnake Raceway this weekend. Despite a low car count the racers present put on a good show.

This time the best was the last main for the Mod Minis as they put on the race of the night.

After taking his victory lap Stephen Crook said, “That was a scary run as I could hear both of those cars behind me. I was trying to make myself pretty wide. I’d cut across the bottom a little bit and leave them enough room where they thought they could get in there but not quite enough. That was one of the most fun races I’ve ever had.”

Then he thanked his father, brother, wife and his kid Allison.

Stephen Crook (25) takes off as he leaves Robert Crane at the start of the Mod Mini main.

When the green waved and sent the 8-car field on its way Crook jumped into the lead as he got past Kevin Reuter. Back in the pack Aaron McIlvain and Jesse James started moving forward.

Soon the top three were virtually nose-to-tail as they tore around the track. Then James took over second with McIlvain right behind him and Steve Crook Sr. trailing in a close fourth place.

It was close racing in the Mod Mini main as leader Stephen Crook (25) was chased by Aaron McIlvain (Hidden) and Jesse James (53).

There was a short caution called as the medic was needed in the stands to check on someone. This bunched the cars and set up a possible shoot out with eight laps to go.

With only a few laps to go Dennis Crook, who had motor problems all night pulled out of the race an onto the infield.

Up front Crook had the advantage and was given a gift with only a lap or two to go. Contact in Turn 4 between Innis and James slowed both cars to slow and allowed Steve Crook to take over second.

Stephen Crook takes the checkered flag as he wins the Mod Mini main.

This gave Stephen a gap that could not be overcome in the final two laps and he claimed the victory.

When the Gen-X main began Mikki Beuchat jumped from his second row starting position to grab the lead. He had such an advantage in his “Honda Roller Skate,” that everyone was eating his dust.

When the green flag waved to start the Gen-X race Mikki Beuchat headed for the outside line to get by Jorden Lumsden (8) and Ollie Gibbons.

After that the field spread out and Beuchat was on cruise control. His only challenge came when he had a bit of a problem getting around a back marker.

In the end Beuchat won by around a half lap or more over the runner up. A much better result than as Jordan Lumsden finished a distant second. For Beuchat it was a long night as he also raced in the Mod Mini class driving the Roller Skate.

“I goofed up in the heat race, I tried a tire change and that didn’t work out so I changed the tires ºand that was it,” he said. “I had too small of a tire so I was running out of gear in the heat race and then I went back to a taller tire and was able to use that extra gear for more straight away speed.”

Beuchat is still looking for a sponsor to help him but he thanked all his friends that are supporting his efforts.

When the Hobby Stock main began Roy Peterson briefly held the lead until the second lap when Ray Davis swept past him. Further back Crystal Kontney was having problems with her car and after circulating up high for a few laps retired to the pits.

When the Hobby Stock main began winner Ray Davis (45) wasted no time going after and getting around Roy Petersen.

Although there were a few duels going on in the pack Davis has a clear run but started catching the slower cars late in the race. Still this was his night as he scored the victory.

REPORTERS NOTE: Unfortunately by the time this reporter got back to the pits Davis had already left so there are no quotes from him.

Next race for Rattlesnake Raceway is Saturday, August 17 with a 6 p.m. starting time.

Hey there this is somewhat of off topic but I
was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually
code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding know-how so I
wanted to get advice from someone with experience.
Any help would be enormously appreciated!

Sorry but I have no idea. Mine is a news site rather than a blog. Did
want to ask what is “WYSIWYG,” never heard of that before.
