RACING PREVIEW: DEC. 26 TO JAN. 1, 2020

RENO, NV (Dec 25) – While most of the Racing Preview is still stuck in the Re-Run Zone there are rays of sunshine. Racing actually begins this weekend and on New Year’s Day.

CAR MEETS:

• Reno Cars and Coffee has the last meet of the year starting at 10 a.m. Sunday. The location is the coffee shop located at 5150 Mae Anne, by the corner with McCarran.

Weather looks like it will be good so there should have a great turn out.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• The motocross riders will have some good practice sessions and races this weekend.

• MMX has practice Thursday from 10 until 3 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday. Then Sunday from 9 until 3 p.m. are more practice session.

• As far as E Street MX Park and Prairie City well REP MX hasn’t fixed the problem with the hotline so I can’t check their schedules. If anyone knows Zeb please ask him to contact me.

There are races Sunday at Riverfront MX Park. Sierra OTHG will get things going with sighting laps at 7:30 a.m. then races begin at 8 a.m. and the day end with a team race.

• There is also racing New Year’s Day, one for the motocross crowd and the other for the oval track group. Of course weather could be a factor so please check ahead before heading out.

• MMX is hosting the Hangover Classic starting at 8 a.m. and ending around 3 p.m. For the oval track crowd starting at 3 p.m. the Stockton Dirt Track has a full afternoon and evening of racing with five classes.

Both should be good shows and provide an action packed start to the New Year.

RACING (TV):

• Thursday is a bit slim but www.mavtv.com has a selection of races from this past season it will be showing. Things begin at noon with the Summer Shootout and ends at 5 p.m. with Madera Racing.

• As usual Friday is pretty slim but at 9 p.m. CBS Sports as Australian Supercars Season Review.

Other than that one might want to try www.youtube.com for races as well as www.motortrendondemand.com. Sadly www.fanschoice.tv is going to disappear behind the NBC Sports Gold paywall.

In this reporter’s opinon as more and more motorsports go behind pay walls they are cutting themselves off from potential fans. Especially now when more and more are cutting the cable and giving up satellite services.

Yes the Internet is replacing them but once again the racing is behind a pay wall. I feel ULTRA 4 has the best idea of live streaming with commercials.

• As usual Saturday is a busy day. Mavtv starts at 9:30 a.m. with ATV Pro racing followed by two hours of Pro Motocross. Then at noon there is a bunch of races ending at 6 p.m. with the Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday Night.

• Sunday begins at 8 a.m. when Fox Sports 2 has motorcycle racing from Sonoma Raceway, Sears Point to you old timers. Then beginning at 9 a.m. CBS Sports has a marathon from this year’s SCCA Run Offs that determine national class championship.

Fox Sports at 2 p.m. repeats two Formula E street races.

That’s it for this weekend and into next week. We here at nvracingnews want to wish all of you a safe and Happy New Year. See you next week.
