 • Unfortunately this year’s Hot August Nights has been cancelled. One reason of course is the current virus situation but apparently there are others as well. This loss is a big economic hit for area but it should return in 2021.

CAR MEETS:

Show Glow Announcement.

• Saturday evening over in Sparks at 880 Holman Way there will be a Show Glow, which is a night time show and shine. The event begins at 7 p.m. and apparently there is a cruise after that.

• Since it’s the first Sunday of the month Reno Cars & Coffee will have a meet starting at 10 a.m. by the Kietzke Starbucks. The last one had a great turn out and with the mild weather forecast this should be another good show.

Rattlesnake Raceway’s season begins with a two-day show this weekend. Poster courtesy – Rattlesnake Raceway.

•Rattlesnake Raceway, located east of downtown Fallon, opens its season with a Friday/Saturday show. Racing begins at 6 p.m. both days and this is also the next round of the I-80 Challenge.

Octane Fest, which usually happens at this time has been moved to early October. Seating is limited so it’s first come, first served for the spectators and that gate opens at 3 p.m. While masks are desired they are not required.

• The Northern Nevada Kart Club opens its season at Desert Park Raceway. This is an unusual race as it’s for members only as they are admitting a driver and mechanic but not spectators.

• For Supercross fans the next race is Sunday on NBC Sports. The live coverage begins at 11 a.m. then is repeated starting at 2 p.m. and once again it’s at Salt Lake City.

• Saturday is a big day for race fans as NASCAR begins a triple-header at Atlanta while the Indy Cars open their season at Texas.

That’s it for this week and next time two more tracks in this region will begin their seasons. Take care, be safe and see you next week.
