RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 25 TO 28

RENO, NV (June 24) – Racing Preview highlights a busy weekend full of cruises, car meets and racing in our region. Summer has arrived and it’s time to get out and enjoy the show.

CAR MEETS/CRUISES:

Fernley Cruise Announcement.

• Friday begins with the Fernley Quaratine Main Street Cruise from 7 until 9 p.m. Meeting place is at the Wigwam then the cruise begins at the main street/95A signal, goes east to the round about then returns. A really nice way to end a summer’s day.

Women With Wheelz car and fashion show announcement.

• Saturday is full of car shows starting with Women with Wheelz in Virginia City. Show is by the Silverland Hotel and not only features cars but has a wandering retro fashion show. There is also a trailer full of retro style dresses and things.

Not to mention being way cooler than the surrounding areas.

6th Annual Iron Rebel Car Show announcement.

• Down in Carson City, from 10 until 2 p.m. is the 6th Annual Iron Rebels Car Show. Proceeds go to the Relay for Life and the Cancer Society. The show is in memory of Tom Shelton, who raced at the old Carson City racetrack.

• Then at 11 a.m. the 775 Mustangs have a car show at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. If you’re a Mustang fan this is a show you don’t want to miss.

• The weekend ends on Sunday, from 2 until 5 p.m. as the Reno Cars & Pizza groups hosts a car meet. The location is the Blind Onion Pizza shop off the Pyramid Highway at the south end of Spanish Springs.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• A pair of oval tracks, one in north central Nevada and another north of Reno are hosting two days of racing this weekend with Friday and Saturday shows.

Battle Mountain Raceway Schedule.

• To the east Battle Mountain Raceway is in action for the first time this season. Friday’s racing begins at 7 p.m. then on Saturday the Outlaw Karts take to the small oval at noon, a good time to see the next generation race. Finally at 7 p.m. the cars take to the big track for their second night.

$5 Saturday announcement for Top Gun Dragstrip.

• Moving west Top Gun Dragstrip is hosting $5 Saturday with a 6 p.m. start to the action. Want to find out just how fast your car, truck or van really is, then you need to be there. You’ll find out at the end of the quarter mile. Should be a great time for all.

• North of Reno, at the Lassen County Fairgrounds is Diamond Mountain Speedway. Racing on Friday will get started at 6 p.m. while Saturday’s action has a 5 p.m. start time.

Both nights will be streamed live on www.dirtovaltv.com. Just in case the videos for Friday are 8531 while Saturday’s are 8532. Should be a good show if one can’t make it.

MOTOCROSS PRACTICE:

• Once again the closest place to practice and gets laps in is the MX track at 95 Motor Sport Complex out in Fernley. It’s south of town and an easy drive out there.

Thursday’s practice runs from 2 until 7 p.m. while it’s 9 to 2 p.m. for Saturday and Sunday.

• Over the hill in Marysville MMX has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday on the main, sand and kid’s tracks. Then Sunday’s practice runs from 9 until 3 p.m. using the vintage, main, sand and kid’s tracks.

• All three REP Racing tracks are also going to have practice this weekend.

     + Since it is supposed to be 107 degrees Thursday there won’t be practice      at Riverfront. The track has been rented so it will be closed to open      practice Saturday and Sunday.

     + E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. both Saturday and      Sunday. One does not need to sign up on the Internet so a rider can show      up and pay at the gate.

     + Prairie City is a different story. Those wishing to practice must sign      up online. The site is www.repracingmx.com. Apparently only a certain      number are allowed.

     Only riders and parents with minors will be allowed in and there are      no spectators. Saturday and Sunday hours are from 9 until 2 p.m. for the      practice sessions.

RACING (NATIIONAL):

• This weekend stock car action switches to the Triangle or Pocono Raceway. All three corners are different and it’s a high-speed track.

On Friday the ARCA series races there starting at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.

Then on Saturday Fox Sports starts with the Gander RV Outdoors Trucks starting aat 9:30 a.m. followed on Fox at 12:30 p.m. with the first of a NASCAR Cup double header.

For you two wheel fans Moto America Superbikes are at Road America this weekend. The first race starts at 11 a.m. Saturday on Fox Sports 1.

Sunday gets rolling at 9:30 a.m. when the Xfinity series takes to the Triangle then at 1 p.m. the NASCAR Cup racers get their second shot at the track in as many days. Fox Sports 1 carries both races.

Finally Moto America Superbikes has its second race of the weekend at Road America. Once again Fox Sports 1 carries the race with an 11:30 start time.
