LOOK AHEAD: PART 2

RENO, NV (Aug. 31) – With a racae canceled this weekend it’s time to look ahead to the end of this crazy 2020 season. While motorcycle racing is starting the fall season area oval tracks, Go Karts and drag racing are in their stretch runs.

OVAL TRACKS:

• Rattlesnake Raceway has three more weekends of racing left and all of them are two-day shows.

Fall schedule for Rattlesnake Raceway.

This Friday and Saturday the postponed Octanefest will finally happen. Racing begins at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday with fireworks after the last show.

Following that on September 18 and 19, the final points races wil be run. The season ends on the weekend of October 3 and 4 with the annual Dirt Track Championship, which is a Saturday night and day show Sunday afternoon.

• Over at 95 Motor Sports Complex they are looking past the cancellation this weekend. Their next race is on September 12 followed by the final points race on September 19th.  After that the season ends with the 2-Day Shoot Out on October 10 and 12th.

• To the east the Winnemucca Regional Speedway ends its season on September 18th with the Friday Night Under The Lights. Racing should get going around 7 p.m. for this event.

Schedule for Summit Raceway in Elko.

• Summit Raceway in Elko ends its season with Gold Rush Races on September25 and 28 with a 6 p.m. starting time both days.

DRAG RACING & GO KART RACING:

Schedule for Top Gun Drag Strip.

• Top Gun Drag Strip will end its shortened 2020 season on the weekend of September 13/15. Things get rolling with the final $5 Friday grudge racing starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday’s action begins at 9 a.m. with the final Summit ET and Junior Dragster races. In addition there is the NHRA All Access Top Gunner Shoot Out on Saturday while the King of the Hill is on Sunday.

Throughout the weekend the Mopars vs The World races are also happening. The winner Saturday and Sunday will pocket $1,000 for their efforts.

• Northern Nevada Kart Club has two races to finish its shortened season. Things get going arund 9 a.m. and the first race is on September 6 while the season ending event is on September 20th.

MOTORCYCLES:

• Due to the Wuhan Virus MRANN had to postpone several spring races so they now are fall events. As usual the Pee Wees, Mini Bikes, Saturday Women and Bombers all run a shorter course on Saturday while the long course is reserved for the Big Bikes on Sunday.

As things stand right now the first event is the  Corey Memorial race on the weekend of September 12/13 followed on September 26/27 with the Mason Valley Dirt Squirts event using the tracks at 95 Motor Sports Complex.

Then there will be three more events including the traditional Halloween date and the season ends on the weekend of November 14/15.

• Over the hill there are a trio of motocross races planned.

     +The final REP Racing 2020 Saturday Night series happens on September 5. One can sign up online at www.repracingmx.com.

     +Then on September 20 the Sierra Over the Hill Gang is hosting the Run What Ya Brung Two-stroke Challenge. The venue is Riverfront MX Park and all classes are welcome.

OTHER RACING NEWS:

• If one is a big IMCA fan there are two events that might interest you.

IMCA Super Nationals poster and schedule.

The first is the annual Super Nationals listed as the World’s Largest Dirt Track Event. It happens at Boone, Iowa and can be seen live on www.imca.tv. The event is six days of racing.

IMCA Duel in the Desert Poster.

• Next up for the IMCA crowd is the annual Duel in the Desert in Las Vegas at the Bull lRing. It’s a five-day event running from November 10 through the 14th.

• For you that like to cruise remember Tuesday is Cruise Night at the South Meadows Steak ‘N Shake. Meet runs from 5 until 9 p.m. and there is music, awards and prizes.

Flea Market/Swap Meet Poster.

• This Saturday, August 5, 95 Motor Sports Complex is having a Flea Market/Swap Meet. The selling begins at 7 a.m. and anyone with a RC Car is welcome to use the go kart track. Should be a fun event.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The show can be heard over the air on 1180 AM in the Reno/Sparks area.
