RENO, NV (Feb.3) – Racing Preview this week will be a bit shorter as I’m focused on racing and not on the Re-Run Zone. Yes it’s time for green flags to start waving and the 2021 season to get started.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
• MotoMedX is a group founded by Reno Fire Department Captain Steve Clark. His goal is to get a group of trained volunteers that will help provide safety at motocycle races and rides.
To accomplish this he has two sessions in March where the volunteers will have professional training. If you ride and want to give back to the sport or recreation you love then please consider joining this group.

• Weekend after this one is when MRANN beings its 2021 season out at Nightingale. Once again the Trail Blazers club is the host and staging the event. One way to make race day easier is to pre-register and that’s now open.
• Those wishing to race in this weekend’s third round of the Frigid 6 series, well Online registration is open but closes at 7:30 Friday evening although early registration will be open at the track (MMX) on Saturday.
CAR MEETS:
• Reno Cars & Coffee gets the month rolling as the group meets Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. by the Kietzke Starbucks. Weather should be nice and if so there will be a large and varied selection of cars to see not to mention a chance to meet car people there.
RACING (MOTOCROSS):
• On Sunday MMX is hosting round 3 of this year’s Frigid 6 series. In addition the track is also having practice sessions as well.
Saturday’s open practice sessions run from 9 until 2 p.m. on the sand and kid’s tracks. Practice for the race begins at 9 a.m.

• With rain this week things are a bit up in the air for REP Racing. The update wasn’t on the hotline when this article was posted so best suggestion is to either check the hotline at 1-775-265-7223 or the website at, www.repracingmx.com.
RACING (NATIONAL):
• Outside of 29 Palms, California there is a week long event going on as Ultra4 begins its season with the annual King of the Hammers event. This creates Hammer Town were from 40 to 60 thousand people camp out all week.
Once can see the event live streamed either on www.ultra4racing.com or www.youtube.com. If you want to see an extreme motor sport this is something not to be missed.
• To the east Volusia Speedway Park, not far from Daytona is having the 50th anniversary Dirt Car Nationals. They can be seen on www.dirtvision.com and that site also follows the World of Outlaws Sprint and Late Model series.
• Supercross once again is Indianapolis for the third and final night of its visit there. Saturday at 5 p.m. on NBC Sports or Peacock the action begins with highlights later on You Tube. Next week the series heads for Orlando, Florida.
• Sunday is quiet due to the Super Bowl but www.mavtv.com will have a bunch of replays from last year to watch. Monday is also a time to watch highlights either on Mavtv or You Tube.
• It all starts Tuesday at 4 p.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the NASCAR Cup-Clash at Daytona. This is an all-star event but this year they’ll race on the road course.
• On Wednesday Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Cup qualifying from Daytona. This only sets the first row for the 500. Then on Thursday the rest of the field races for their positions in one of the Duels. When the final checkered flag flies the field is set for Sunday’s Great American Race, the Daytona 500.
That’s it for this weekend but racing is finally getting going as series begin to start their seasons. Soon area tracks and series will also start, a sure sign of spring and the summer to come.
