RACING PREVIEW: FEB. 18 TO 21

RENO, NV (Feb. 1 7) – While it hasn’t been a full week of racing there is plenty this weekend. Racing Preview will highlight most of them.

CAR MEETS:

One event hoping for some rain this weekend is Mud Fest Spring. Photo courtesy – Mud Fest Spring

• There is an unusual meet Saturday starting at noon on Saturday.  It’s Mud Fest Spring and happens at the Chickadee Pits and there will be tug of wars, music as well as mud drags. A good time to bring some rain gear and plan to get muddy.

• Sunday starting at 10 a.m. is when Reno Cars & Coffee has a meet at the Del Real Pub and Grill in the northwest part of Reno. With good weather expected there should be another good gathering of vehicles ranging from the exotic to the mundane.

RACING & MOTOCROSS EVENTS:

• Best in the Desert is running the Tensor Tire Parker 250 this weekend. Registration has started and is at the Parker Senior Center. Friday is Down Town Tech starting at 8 a.m. and it starts with the youth classes first.

For the second week in a row AMA District 36 is having a race. This time it’s at the MMX track in Marysville.

• AMA District 36 has a two-day show this weekend, Rumble at the Riverbottoms using the MMX track in Marysville, California. Both Saturday and Sunday have a full schedule for all the various classes that compete.

It’s doubtful the track will have open practice sessions this weekend with two days of racing on tap.

Schedule for the 2021 Frigid 6 Motocross series.

• Sunday is when the fourth round of this year’s Frigid 6 motocross series will happen. The venue is AMP MX, which I believe is the Oatfield track.

• All three of REP Racing MX tracks will be in action this weekend.

+ E Street MX Park has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and      Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• NASCAR returns to Daytona International Speedway but this time all three top series race on the road course. On Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs NASCAR Race Hub and they’ll probably go over how that’s going to work.

• Friday gets off to an early start when www.motortrendondemand.com broadcasts the Asian Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi race #1.

Then at 4:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck Series race on the Daytona road course.

• Saturday is a bit busier but it also has an early start at 3:55 a.m. when the second Asian Le Mans Series 4-Hours at Abu Dhabi is run. Once again motortrendondemand will broadcast it.

Then at 2 p.m. Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the Xfinity race on the Daytona road course. Finally at 4 p.m. NBC Sports has Orlando 2, which is the second AMA Supercross event there.

For those not connected www.youtube.com usually has a highlight video after the Supercross ends and on Sunday the main race is run in its entirety.

On Sunday the entire NASCAR Cup field will race on Daytona’s road course. Photo timesfreepress.com.

• Finally at noon Sunday it’s time for the NASCAR Cup race on the Daytona Road Course. After the 500 it might be a wild race as drivers go left and right as well as shift during the event.

As usual both www.mavtv.com and www.dirtvision.com should have reruns and maybe live events as well.

Stay safe out there everyone and hope to see you next week.
