RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 4 TO 7

RENO, NV (March 3) — This week’s Racing Preview has announcements right after the TV schedule. There is also racing down south plus MX practice session and a race over the hill this week but within the next three weeks all type of racing gets going.

CAR MEET:

• As is traditional Reno Cars & Coffee gets the month rolling with it first weekend of the month meet. Location is the Kietzke Starbucks at 10 a.m. Sunday and if the weather is nice should be another great turn out.

This event is a great opportunity to meet car people and see a wide variety of vehicles from exotic to nice cars.

MOTOCROSS PRACTICE & RACING:

MMX Racing schedule for this weekend.

• MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday on the main, sand and kids tracks. Then on Sunday, from 9 until 3 p.m. the vintage track is added to the mix.

• REP Racing has practice at two of its tracks as well as a race at the other one.

       + Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m.  Saturday and Sunday. One must register on line at   www.repracingmx.com to use the track.

       + Riverfront MX has practice from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 until 2 p.m. on Sunday. There is also a new kid’s track available.

       + E Street MX Park is hosting Round 1 for this year’s Spring Fling Series. Friday is open for parking then gates open at 7 a.m. Saturday with practice from 9 until 2 p.m.

       Race day Sunday gates open at 6 a.m. with practice starting at 8 a.m. and racing to follow.

RACING (NATIONAL):

•  This weekend NASCAR has travels to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a three division show.

• Thursday is pretty slim but Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. has NASCAR Race Hub.

• Friday Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. has another edition of NASCAR Race Hub then at 6 p.m. airs the Camping World Truck Series from Las Vegas.

• Saturday is when Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the Xfinity race from Las Vegas.

Then at 4 p.m. NBC Sports airs the AMA Supercross from the Daytona International Speedway. It’s a special course designed by Ricky Carmichael and is always a challenge for the riders.

The event starts Daytona Bike Week, which is full of various events including flat track racing as well as the Daytona 200.

• Sunday the action swings back west as FOX, starting at noon, airs the NASCAR Cup race from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

• In addition to what is listed here www.youtube.com as well as www.mavtv.com have various races. For short track fans one might want to check out www.floracing.com.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Top Gun announcement for help in restoring the track’s return road.

 • Top Gun Dragstrip is planning to do some work on the return road next week and needs help. They hope to clean up the cracks and holes on the return road so it’s ready for the upcoming season. Anyone that can help will be appreciated.

• Next weekend is the Wild Horse Sprint Enduro, the second race in MRANN’s season. Right now is a great time to pre-register for this event that is held west of Lovelock at Toulon.

• The following week, March 20, is when MRANN is having a ride day and awards banquet over at the Riverfront MX track outside of Marysville, California. No tickets will be sold at the gate and the deadline is March 14.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoons. The show can be heard over the air in Northwest Nevada on 1060 AM.
