ANOTHER LOOK AHEAD

RENO, NV (April12) — Due to a pause in racing this article will be short. It’s focused on our region showing changes and what is to come. Thursday’s preview article will cover more plus what is going on nationally and internationally.

SHOWS AND EVENTS:

• Like last year the annual Women With Wheels car show will be on June 26th at Virginia City. However there is now a second event.

There is a second show, part of Hot August Nights.

Women with Wheels will again be part of Hot August Nights. Unlike the June show all cars will have to be registered with Hot August Nights. This second show is on August 3rd and 4th on the East Side Parking lot at the Nugget in Sparks.

• There is another family special event this weekend. On Sunday from 10 until 3 p.m. Reno Area Dirt Riders (RAD) is hosting a Kid’s day.

Please read the poster, especially about the road. If you have a dirt bike then do sign up with RAD. Great bunch of people that do great working cleaning up areas and taking care of trails.

MOTORCYCLES:

Mammoth Motocross is coming and qualifying events are happening. Graphic courtesy – Mammoth Motocross.

• One event many area riders look forward to is the annual Mammoth Motocross. However one must qualify to race in this weekend long event. The next qualifying event is May 1-2 at Riverfront MX Park by Marysville, California. It’s the closest one to Reno and Sparks.

• For Supercross fans the Atlanta 2 race is tomorrow live at noon and delayed at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Network. There is one more race there then the series moves to Salt Lake City, its most western race, for the final two rounds of the series.

• Those competing in the BBMX series head east for the next race in Carlin, Nevada.

RACING:

Norcal Rock Racing graphic showing venue change.

• Norcal Rock racing has had to move it’s event from Wild West Motorsports Park to the track in Fernley for the Friday/Saturday event. Apparently the Sparks track didn’t get a permit from the county but don’t know the reason.

• There is another off-road race scheduled for our region but this time it’s at American Valley Speedway in Quincy, California. It’s the first short course event on VORRA’s schedule. Oddly enough it doesn’t show up on the schedule for the track so hope to have a final word for Thursday’s preview.

• Another regional track in action this weekend is Diamond Mountain Speedway in Quincy, California. As usual it’s a 6 p.m. start to the action.

Schedule for the Northern Nevada Kart Club.

• Sunday starts the 2021 season for Northern Nevada Kart Club. Usually qualifying begins around 9 a.m. with heats starting around 10 followed by the mains once both sets of heat races are finished.

That pretty well sums up what is coming. The Thursday preview will have more, especially national and international events. Have a safe week everyone.
