This week’s Racing Preview is full of racing, a car meet and some breaking news. Once again more series are starting their seasons while others are continuing.
BREAKING NEWS:
• The news actually came out last week but the owners of the Wild West Motorsports Park have decided to close it down after nine years of many events. Sadly this news comes only a few weeks after the track’s 2021 schedule was announced.
• Another cancellation was the planned VORRA short track event this weekend at American Valley Speedway in Quincy, California. The group is looking for an alternative date.
CAR MEETS:
• As usual the weekend gets rolling Friday night with the Fernley Main Street Cruise. Times are from 7 until 9 p.m. and the meeting place is the Wigwam.
• Reno Cars & Coffee is having their second meet of the month starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Once again the location is the Human Bean coffee stand by the corner of Keitze and Moana.
• Reno Area Dirt Riders (RAD) is also having RAD Kids Day from 10 until 3 p.m. Sunday. The location is off the Mount Rose Highway and they ask for an RSVP. Also do note the remarks on the access road. Memberships will be available.

RACING (REGIONAL):
• Due to the closing of Wild West Motorsports Park the Wild West Shootout staged by Norcal Rock Racing has moved. The Friday-Saturday event will be at the 95 Motorsport Complex located by the speedway south of Fernley.
• North of Reno the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California has gotten its 2021 season started with a bang. Saturday, with racing beginning at 6 p.m., will be their fourth event this season.
• The Northern Nevada Kart Club begins its 2021 season Sunday at Desert Park Raceway. The track is located about a quarter mile after the pavement ends on Lemmon Drive. Heat races should begin sometime around 10 a.m. and start a full day of racing.
• Over the hill at Merced, Speedway there is the 3-day Al Miller races. Practice on Thursday then racing happens both Friday and Saturday. The Saturday races might be carried on Short Track TV on www.youtube.com.
PRACTICE & RACING (MOTORCYCLES):
• This weekend BBMX will contest the next round of their series at Carlin, Nevada. Saturday is for practice while Sunday has a short practice session in the morning followed by the motos.
• Prior to getting its season started, Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn is having another practice/test session on Saturday. One will need to have a current AMA membership and gates open at 2 p.m. while it’s a 4 p.m. start to the practice.
• MMX Racing in Marysville will have its usual practice sessions this weekend. On Saturday the times are from 9 until 2 p.m. then on Sunday times are from 9 until 3 p.m. and the vintage track is also available.
• REP Racing will also have practice sessions at its two tracks this weekend. However when this preview was posted the hotline had not been updates. For further information please check either the hotline ate 1-775-265-7223 or www.repracingmx.com.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday has a bunch of re-runs but at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. • Friday is also slim however at 4 p.m. Fox Sports has NHRA qualifying from Las Vegas.
• Saturday is a bit busier with two national events on hand.
At 10:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the Camping World Truck Series from Richmond, Virginia. Then at 3 p.m. NBC Sports has Atlanta 3 for the AMA Supercross series.
After this Supercross moves to its most western venue and final two events will be held in the Salt Lake City area.
• Sunday is the busy day on TV.
Things get going at 5:55 a.m. when ESPN has the season opening Formula1 race from Imola, Italy. Then at 11 a.m. NBC Sports airs the Moto GP race from Portugal.
At noon Fox Broadcast the NASCAR Cup race from Richmond Raceway. Wonder if there will be a different winner this week.
Over on NBC at 12:30 p.m. the network broadcasts the season opening race for the Indy Car teams from Barber Motorsports Park. Then at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the finals from the NHRA Las Vegas 4-Wide Nationals.
