RACING PREVIEW: JULY 22 TO 25

RENO, NV (July 21): — Another summer weekend with Racing Preview. Still a bunch on the menu as we are heading into Hot August Nights. Great news as the lights are coming back on for a track in our region.

CAR MEETS:

• The final Thursday night cruise in Carson City, from 5 until 7 p.m., will meet at Battle Born Harley Davidson. The dealership is located at 2900 Research Way.

Friday is the final cruise in for Summit Racing Equipment in Sparks.

• The final Friday cruise in at Summit Racing Equipment is this week. Things get rolling around 5 p.m. and the location is 960 E. Glendale Avenue in Sparks.

+ There is no Fernley Main Street cruise this week.

Fallon Cars & Coffee has its next meet Saturday morning.

• Saturday is when Fallon Cars & Coffee has its next meet. The location is Telegraph Coffee & Tap.

There is a Shine for the Youth show Saturday evening at Reno Town Mall.

• Another Saturday show, from 5 until 10 p.m. is when Northern Nevada Classics has a show shine for youth at the Reno Town Mall. The event also celebrates the official opening of Sierra Foods Marketplace.

• Probably the loudest show starts at 3 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday. It’s the SHCA Bass Head BBQ and is at Sky High Car Audio. There one can hear the loudest vehicles in the west.

Wigs for Kids show ‘n shine is in mid town Reno on Sunday.

• Sunday is a busy day. There is a non-profit Show and Shine,from 9 until 2 p.m. sponsored by Wigs for Kids at 1555 South Virginia Street in Reno.

• Over in Sparks, starting around 10 a.m. Sparks Cars & Coffee has a meet. It’s by Buffalo Wild Wings and close to the Target store.

Carson Mall’s Cars & Donuts is having a meet Sunday.

• Down south, starting at 9:45 a.m. is Carson Mall’s Cars & Donuts. The first 25 get a free donuts and plaques are given out to the best 5 entries.

RAD Rodeo is happening this Sunday.

• There is also a special event on Sunday when Reno Area Dirt Riders has its RAD Rodeo. The event is open to 2021 members and since the theme is wild west participants are encouraged to bring water pistols.

RACING (REGIONAL):

Lovelock is open again. Here is the schedule for the first of its four races this season.

• Friday and Saturday Lovelock Speedway Silver State Racing opens after being dark for the past year. Friday’s races begin at 7 p.m. while Saturday’s action has a 5 p.m. start time. Spectator gates open about two hours before racing begins.

NOTE: Due to a street being closed there are new directions on how to reach the track. After reaching the courthouse veer to left and go between that building and the Safeway.

Follow Western Avenue to Sand Hill then turn right. Follow that to Pitt Road, turn left and start looking for the track.

Toward the end of the 206 Senior main the three leaders could have been covered by a large blanket. Here Isaac Bourque leads Zach Riveria and Boden Barnwell.

• On Sunday Northern Nevada Kart Club will be in action at Desert Park Raceway. Karts should be on the track at 8:30 a.m. Heat races start after qualifying then the mains will begin. It will be an action packed day.

• This weekend is the Plumas County Fair so Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville will have Fair Races on Sunday. Start time is 5 p.m. with all four regular classes featured.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• MMX Racing has open practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on the main, sand and kid’s tracks.

MMX Racing is hosting a D36 AMA Grand Prix this Sunday.

On Sunday MOJO presents D36 AMA Grand Prix. Gates open at 6 a.m. with racing starting at 7:30 a.m.

REP race schedule.

• When this article was posted REP Racing has not updated its hotline. However round 4 of the REP Saturday Night Series is scheduled at Riverfront MX. Best advice is to check the hotline at 1-775-256-7223 or check the website at, www.repracingmx.com.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. Thursday airs NASCAR Race Hub. All three top NASCAR divisions have the weekend off. Then at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has NHRA in 30.

• Friday is pretty empty so a good time to check with www.youtube.com and see highlights of races one may have missed.

• Saturday has an early start at 7:30 a.m. when CBS Sports shows the weekend’s first Formula E race from London, England. Then at 11 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA qualifying show #1 from Sonoma.

• This time Peacock and mavtv will carry the action from the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross race up in Washougal, Washington.

+ The action begins at 1 p.m. with 250 Moto 1 followed at 2 p.m. by the first 450 moto. The second 250 moto begins at 3 p.m. followed at 4 p.m. by the final 450 moto.

Finally at 6 p.m. mavtv has the 2021 ARCA Series race from Newton, Iowa.

• Sunday is pretty light this time. Things get going at 10 a.m. when CBS has the weekend’s second Formula E race from London.

• At noon Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Qualifying Show #2 from Sonoma. Then at 1 p.m. the network airsthe final rounds of the NHRA Sonoma Nationals.
