RENO, NV (Sept. 29) — First weekend of fall and things are bit slow as we move away from summer. The Indy Car series is over, both NASCAR and NHRA are heading toward the championship rounds of their respective seasons.
In our region the final oval track races will happen this month but for the two-wheel crowd more races are on tap. They will carry racing into early November.
CAR MEETS:
• The weekend gets started Friday at 6 p.m. when the National Automobile Museum has “Art, Autos and Wine.” This is a benefit for the museum and should be a good social event with a lot of good art and cars on display.
• Reno Cars & Coffee starts the month off Sunday with at 10 a.m. start time. Should be nice weather with a good turn out at the Kietzke Lane Starbucks.
• That same morning, starting at 11 a.m., Northern Nevada Classics has the grand finale of their monthly cruise ins for the year. Location is the Redwood Rotisserie& Grill at 860 East Plumb Lane in Reno.
RACING (REGIONAL):
• Lovelock Speedway Silver State Racing brings its short season to an end with a two-day show. Racing begins at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
• Further east Battle Mountain Raceway ends its season with the Silver Cup. They also have a 7 p.m. start time Saturday and Sunday.
RACING (MOTOCROSS):
• Here in Northern Nevada the Battle Born MX series will be in Winnemucca for round 9 of its season. Saturday is for practice while Sunday is race day after a short practice session.
• MMX Racing has a two-day AMA District 36 event. Both Saturday and Sunday have an 8:06 a.m. start to the day’s racing.
• REP Racing had not updated its hotline when this article was posted. However Sunday is when Round 1 of the REP Fall Series begins at Prairie City. Not word on Riverfront MX Park.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• On Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.
• Friday is very slim but a good time to check www.youtube.com for highlights of races one may have missed.
• Saturday is a busy day on TV and the Internet. Things get rolling at 10 a.m. when Fox Sports has the Camping World Truck Series from Talladega.
Then at 1:30 p.m. NBC Sports airs the Xfinity race from the same track and at 5 p.m. www.mavtv.com has the 2021 ARCA Series from Salem.
• For you at home Saturday evening Madera Speedway has a love stream of races that will be shown later on mavtv. It’s round 9 of the Nutup Short Track Shootout with the Pro Late Models racing for 150-laps. They really put on a good show at that track.
• Sunday starts at 11 a.m. when NBC has the NASCAR Cup race from the super speedway at Talladega. With pack racing there is usually a “Big One” so have to see what happens.
Then NBC Sports has two broadcast, one live at 11:30 a.m. with the delayed one at 3:30 p.m. of the MotoGP race from the Circuit of the Americans outside of Austin, Texas. This series is like Formula 1 for the two-wheel set.
Finally the day comes to an end at 5 p.m. when NBC Sports airs the World Super Bike Championship race from Algarve, Portugal.
