RENO, NV (Oct. 6) — Car meets, a local clean up as well as a lot of area races highlight this weekend not to mention what’s on TV and the Internet. The race fan’s buffet table is overloaded this time around.
CAR MEETS:
• Things get rolling Friday at 6 p.m. with a meet at the 76 station in downtown Fernley. Who knows might end up as a cruise as well.
• Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until noon Fallon Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month. Location is the Telegraph Coffee and Tap located at1805 W. Williams Avenue.
• If you have a dirt bike or UTV and enjoy riding the trails here is an event for you. The Pin Nuts Trail Association is having a clean up Saturday. Times are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the starting area is the Johnson Lane OHV.
• Another Saturday is the Show ‘N Shine and Swap Meet in downtown Fallon. The event is to benefit the Fallon Theater restoration project. Times are from10 until 3 p.m., which allows time to have a nice dinner if a person is heading for Rattlesnake Raceway.
• Sunday is when Carson Cars & Coffee has a meet. Starts at 10 a.m. and the location is 3300 U.S. Highway 50 on the east side of town.
• Sunday at 10 a.m. is when Sparks Cars & Coffee has its meet. Times are 10 a.m. and the location is by Buffalo Wild Wings.
• To the south the postponed 1st Annual Custom & Classics car show in Genoa is happening. Hours are from 10 to 4 p.m. and they are asking registered vehicles to be there by 8 a.m. so they can get everyone parked.
RACING (OVAL TRACK):
• Rattlesnake Raceway is hosting the annual Dirt Track Championships this weekend. It’s two full shows, one Saturday evening and the other Sunday afternoon.
The average finish over the two days determines a driver’s final standings. In a normal year this event brings the oval track season in Northern Nevada to a close.
• However this year is anything but normal. Due to the fairgrounds in Susanville still being used as a fire camp that track is moving its Halloween races to Rattlesnake. The two event will be on October 29 and 30; more information will be forth coming next week.
The Diamond Mountain Speedway crew will run the event and do the track prep.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTORCYCLES):
• In Reno the Endurocross Series visits the Livestock Events Center Saturday evening. Racing begins at 7 p.m. as riders face the challenging obstacle course.
• To the east, about 20 miles outside of Toulon, which is located a few miles west of Lovelock is another big event. The AMA National Hare & Hound series visits Blue Wing Flat on Saturday. Both the Cheaters and Rim Benders, from MRANN are hosting the event.
Saturday is when the youth classes race and the adults have an 11:30 start time to their race. The pro classes will do two laps while the older riders and other do one lap. After that race the MRANN VWomen and Mini Bikes get their race.
On Sunday, MRANN’s day the Pee Wees start things followed by the big bikes and bombers. To be classed as a finisher a rider must complete one lap although those going for class championships will do both laps. The banner to start the big bikes should drop around 9 a.m.

• MMX Racing in Marysville is having a busy weekend this time. They will also have two days of practice sessions starting at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
In addition to the practice sessions MMX is hosting the “Return of the Coupe Classic. It’s an annual motocross event they stage in early fall.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Most professional racing series are headed for their championship rounds and as a result this weekend is very busy.
On Thursday www.espn3.com at 8 a.m. airs the Formula 1 preview from Turkey.
• On Friday things get going early as ESPN2 has Formula 1 practice sessions. The first starts at 1:25 a.m. with a 4:55 a.m. staring time for the second.
Then at 3:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. At 7:30 p.m. the networks airs NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from Dallas.
• Saturday gets gong at 1:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 has the third Formula 1 qualifying session then follows at at 4:55 a.m. with qualifying.
At 9 a.m. NBC has the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship race from Virginia International Raceway. Then at noon NBC Sports has the Xfinity race on the Roval at Charlotte.
• Sunday dawns bright and early at 4:55 a.m. when ESPN2 has the Formula 1 race from Turkey. Then at 9:10 a.m. IMSA.TV has the second Porsche Carrera from VIR.
At 11 a.m. NBC airs the NASCAR Cup race from the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This is another elimination round so it’s very important to any driver on the bubble. To complicate things they’ll be turning left and right during the race.
Over on Fox Sports 1 at 12:30 p.m. there is the Qualifying Show #2 followed at 1:30 p.m. by the final rounds from the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals.
