RACING PREVIEW: DECEMBER 23 TO 26

RENO, NV (Dec. 22) — It’s Christmas weekend so almost everything is at a stand still. However there are things that are schedule to happen but that could change due to the weather.

The Jolly Old Elf will be roaring into our area this weekend.

Sorry for the lack of photos but hope to have more next week.

 CAR MEETS:

• The usual Saturday meet with the Fallon Cars & Coffee probably isn’t going to happen on Christmas Day. Time to kick back and enjoy some family time.

• Sparks Cars & Coffee is scheduled for Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. by Buffalo Wild Wings. Of course the weather might be a factor so have to see what happens.

• Carson Cars & Coffee also is slated for a meet. Not sure of the location so best bet is to check their Face Book page to see if anything is happening.

MOTOCROSS PRACTICE:

• After this preview was posted last week I learned that, due to the cold weather, the motocross tracks at Fernley 95A Speedway will be closed for now. The cold temperatures were cited as the case as the track might be frozen. Hopefully when the weather eases up they will be open again for weekend practice.

• MMX Racing didn’t have anything posted when this report was being put together. So I’m guess if there is any practice sessions it will be on Sunday but that depends on the weather. Just in case one might want to check their Face Book Page or call, 530-419-5200 to see if you can work off Christmas dinner with a Sunday ride. Have to add with the forecast it doesn’t look too positive.

Checking with REP Racing, due to the rain all their tracks, Riverfront MX, Prairie City and E Street are all closed this week through the weekend. There are hoping for a break in the weather next week so best bet is to check their website at, www.repracingmx.com or the hotline at, 1-775-265-7223.

RACING:

Since we are deep in the Re-Run Zone everything is taking the weekend off. However there are places to go for a fan to get their racing fix. One of them is www.youtube.com where highlights from professional series can be seen.

Another site that has a varied schedule from shops, auto shows to many types of racing is www.mavtv.com.  Other sites are www.speedsport.tv and www.fanschoice.tv or www.floracing.com. These of course are all subscription site but offer a varied menu of events.

Others are www.lucasoilracing.com or www.goracing.com while another is www.dirtvision.com, which I believe is for the two World of Outlaws series.

Not to worry as some tracks will have racing on New Year’s weekend. One of them, if the weather cooperates is the Stockton 99 dirt track. After that racing for one series begins in earnest while the Chili Bowl starts the week after New Year’s.

So until then we here at nvracingnews want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas. Enjoy the family time and remember soon green flags will wave again and racing, national, international as well as local will get going. Hope to have more pictures next time.
