RACING PREVIEW: JANUARY 20 TO 23

RENO, NV (Jan. 19) — Hard to believe but the first month of the year is almost over. That means we’re not a week closer to more racing as tracks and series will be opening up. In our immediate area there are several car meets, a meeting of car clubs and two motorcycle groups as well as a ride.  

CAR MEETS:

Fallon Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month Saturday morning.

• Fallon Cars & Coffee has a meet starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Telegraph Coffee & Cap. The location is 1805 W. Williams Avenue. 

This Saturday is when Mud Fest 2022 happens.

• Another fun event is Mudfest 2022 out at Chickadee Drive. There will be live music so a $5 donation is asked and, if all goes as planned, a lot of mud slinging by trucks and maybe even a car or two. 

• Sunday starts at 10 a.m. when Sparks Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month by Buffalo Wild Wings. With good weather there should be a larger turnout. 

Nevada Car Coalition has a gathering at Mimi’s Cafe this Sunday.

• The Nevada Car Coalition is having a meeting and group gathering. The board meeting is from 11 until noon when the gathering begins. Mimi’s Café, at 5090 Kietzke Lane, is the location and everyone should get a good lunch there. 

Carson Cars & Coffee has a meet this Sunday. Hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer.

• To the south Carson Cars & Coffee will be hosting a meet at 3300 U.S. Highway 50 East in Carson City. 

PRACTICE & MEETS (MOTORCYCLES):

MMX Racing has a full schedule of practice sessions this weekend.

• Over the hill MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday then from 9 until 3 p.m. on Sunday on all four tracks. 

• REP Racing MX has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront MX Park has practice from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday on all the tracks. 

RACING (NATIONAL):

Las Vegas Dirt Nationals are this week.

This weekend is when the Las Vegas Dirt Nationals happens. Five classes will race as they heat up the desert in the winter. 

The Supercross stars will race Saturday in San Diego as the western swing continues.

• This Saturday, both on USA and Peacock networks will carry this week’s Supercross event. The event starts at 7 p.m. and visits San Diego this weekend. 

• For those that might want to see more www.mavtv.com has a schedule, usually repeats but its still good. Also www.youtube.com has highlights of races one may have missed.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In northwest Nevada, it can be heard over the air at 1060 AM.
