RACING PREVIEW: FEBRUARY 3 TO 6

RENO, NV (Feb.2) — Second month of the New Year starts off with a bang as there is a car meet, motocross action as well as NASCAR’s first race of the year. Now racing is heading for even more events in the coming weeks.

 CAR MEETS

Reno Corvettes has its monthly meeting at the Bonanza Casino on Thursday.

• On Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. Reno Corvettes has its monthly meeting at the Bonanza Casino located at 4720 North Virginia in Reno. All years and all models are welcome to these meetings. 

Reno Cars & Coffee meets Sunday at the Keitzke Starbucks.

• Reno Cars & Coffee gets the month going with it first weekend of the month meet at the Keitzke Starbucks.  As usual things begin at 10 a.m. and there should be a wide variety of cars as well as car a lot of people to meet. 

RACING & PRACTICE (Motocross):

• Big news here in Reno is that Kicker AMA Arenacross is at the Livestock Evens Center for two days. While there is action through most of each day, the start times for the mains is 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. 

• The weekend the Motocross tracks at Fernley 95A Speedway are supposed to be open for practice. Times are 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

MMX Racing has a busy weekend as the track hosts an AMA District 36 Event.

• Over the hill MMX Racing is hosting AMA District 36’s Rumble at the Riverbottoms event. It’s a two-day show with racing on Saturday and Sunday. 

Riders will need to be either District 36 or AMA members and racing gets going around 9 a.m. each day.

• E Street MX Park will have practice sessions on both the front and back tracks. Times are 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

• REP Racing MX will have action on two of its tracks. Prairie City, from 9 until 2 p.m. has practice sessions Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront MX from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday has practice.

Then Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m. the track is reserved for a Sierra Old Timers ride day but on Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m., it’s open practice. 

RACING (National & International): 

All this week, through Saturday, King of the Hammers is happening. Several thousand people are gathered in Johnson Valley, California, north of 29 Palms, to watch what is probably the most insane off-road event on the planet. 

You can find live feeds on the Ultra 4 Face Book page or on www.youtube.com or go to www.ultra4racing.com. The latter has the daily schedule and while racing continues every day Saturday is when the 4400 Unlimiteds race.  

The unlimiteds go from about 150 miles an hour across the desert to, well about 2 or 3 miles an hour while going through the rock sections. 

On Thursday Fox Sports 1 at 2 p.m. has NASCAR Race Hub as that organization gets ready for its first big race of the season. 

• Friday is an empty day so good time to check You Tube or www.mavtv.com for things you might have missed. 

• Things get rolling Saturday at 2:30 a.m. when www.motortrendondemand.com has the Intercontinental GT Challenge 9 Hours from Kylami, South Africa.

• At 7 p.m. CNBC and Peacock air the next round of the AMA Supercross series. Now the series begins to move east as the venue this week is in Glendale, Arizona.

• On Sunday starting at 2 p.m. FOX starts showing qualifying then at 3 p.m. it broadcasts NASCAR Cup the Clash. This from a quarter mile track set inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.  Should be a wild show with full size cars on this track.
