RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 17 TO 20

RENO, NV (March 16) — While we’re light on car meets this weekend there is a special event Saturday. There is plenty of motocross action over the hill in Northern California plus a lot on TV and the Internet.

 CAR MEETS & EVENTS:

Saturday, starting at noon, there will be one more Mud Fest out at Chickadee off Lemmon Drive. An interesting event to say the least and a chance for some to really have fun in the mud. 

Reno Rally Cross happens this Saturday at the 95A Speedway road course located south of Fernley.

• The next Northern Nevada Rallycross event is this Saturday. Event is held on the road course at Fernley 95A Speedway.

• Reno Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The location is at the Human Bean coffee stand by the corner of Kietzke and Moana Lanes. 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Northern Nevada Kart Club is making improvements to its home track Desert Park Raceway.

• Desert Park Raceway, home of the Northern Nevada Kart Club, will be closed from Wednesday through Friday for track improvements.  They ask everyone to please not drive on the newly paved areas. 

Al Lockett’s Reno Expo 2022 starts this weekend and runs through the 27th. There will be 4X4 and racing groups in the show.

• Starting Friday, March 18 and running through Sunday, March 27 it’s the annual Al Lockett Boat and Recreation Show. Usually there are several off road groups and some racing groups there as well. 

Veteran racer Aaron Siminoe is hosting a three-day moto camp at the 95A Motor Sport Complex next week.

• Next week, March 22 to 24 veteran racer Aaron Siminoe will host a motocross camp at Fernley 95A Motor Sports Complex. Apparently spots are filling up fast so if you want to improve you game its to sign up. 

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• Both motocross tracks at 95A Motor Sport Complex should be open for practice this weekend. Times are usually 10 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

MMX has flat track racing this Saturday.

• MMX Racing is a busy place this weekend. On Saturday, starting around 10:30 a.m. they have practice then at 11:30 a.m. start their flat track season. 

Round 3 of the 2022 Frigid 6 Series is this weekend at Argyll MX.

On Sunday they will host Round 4 of this season’s 2022 Frigid 6 Series. All this in addition to the usual practice schedule for the various tracks over there. 

Riverfront MX hosts the second round of this year’s Hangtown Shootout 2022.

• Riverfront MX, on Sunday, hosts the second round of this year’s Hangtown Shootout 2022.  There was no word about Prairie City so best bet is to check the hotline at,1-775-265-7223. 

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL:

• Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. • Friday at 7:30 a.m. www.motortrendondemand.com airs the FIA World Endurance Championship 1000 miles from Sebring, Florida.

• Saturday starts early at 7 a.m. when Peacock shows the start of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar – 12 Hours of Sebring. Then at 12:30 p.m. the USA network takes over the broadcast. 

• Fox Sports 1 has two races from Atlanta Motor Speedway. At 11:30 a.m. they show the Camping World Truck Series event followed at 2 p.m. with the Xfinity race.

• Peacock and CNBC team up and at 4 p.m. broadcast the AMA Supercross round from Indianapolis. Can Eli Tomac continue his winning streak. 

• Sunday gets rolling at 7:55 a.m. when ESPN broadcasts the season opening Formula 1 race from Bahrain. Then at 10 a.m. NBC has the Indy Car race from Texas Motor Speedway.

• This past winter the Atlanta Motor Speedway resurfaced the track and made some changes. On Sunday the next NASCAR Cup cars will race there and it starts at noon when FOX airs the event.  Another race at noon is when CNBC airs the MotoGP event from Indonesia.
