RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 24 TO 27

RENO, NV (March 23) — This week’s Racing Preview is a bit calmer but oval track racing is starting in our region. Within the next month oval tracks in our region will start their seasons as well as the Northern Nevada Kart Club and Top Gun Dragstrip. 

CAR MEETS:

• Saturday is a busy day with two meets happening at the same time.

Unidos 775 is hosting an event to benefit the Eddy House on Saturday.

 + Up at Lees Discount Liquor, located at 2950 Nortowne Lane, starting at 2 p.m. there will be a fundraiser for the Eddy House. The event is sponsored by Unidos 775. 

There is a celebration of the 8th anniversary of Bad Habitz. Several groups will be on hand.

+ At that same time 12Tea is presenting Cars & Boba. The location is 199 Damonte Ranch Parkway and several groups will be represented. 

Part of the show at the convention center is Lockett’s Off-Road and Motorsports Expo. The show runs through Sunday.

• This is the final weekend for the Lockett Reno Expo 2022. Starts Thursday, at 10 a.m. and runs through Sunday. Part of the show is the Off-Road & Motorsports Expo that features off-road groups and some racing groups.

• On Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. Sparks Cars & Coffee should be meeting at the Starbucks located at 171 Disc Drive. This is their new location. 

• Carson Cars & Coffee might also be having a meet as well. Best advice is to check their Face Book for the latest information. 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Pre-registration is now open for NNKC’s season’s opener on April 3rd.

• For those that race with the Northern Nevada Kart Club pre-registration for the April 3rd season opener is now up. Will save some time on race day morning. 

PRACTICE & RACING (MOTORCYLES):

MRANN and AMA District 36 through Western States Racing Association are having a combined event this weekend.

This weekend Western States Racing Association is staging the season’s second race for MRANN. It’s the Wild Horse and Wild Pony Sprint Enduro. This is a combined MRANN and AMA District 36 event. Location is a few miles up the good dirt road at Toulan and it’s close to Lovelock.

Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex should be having practice sessions on its two tracks. Times are 9 to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. 

Practice schedule for this weekend at MMX Racing.

• Over the hill MMX racing is going to have a very busy weekend. On Saturday from 9 until 2 p.m. there is practice on the main, sand and kid’s tracks. Then on Sunday the vintage track is added to the mix and times are 9 until 3 p.m. for practice.

• Due to the weather last week the first round of the flat track series was pushed back to this weekend. So on Saturday event, starting with 5:30 p.m. practice before racing begins. 

• E Street MX Park has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday but suggest one check their Face Book page as they might also have sessions on Saturday. 

• Rep Racing MX also has practice sessions. Riverfront MX has a session from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday on all of the tracks. Prairie City has sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. 

RACING (REGIONAL AND NATIONAL):

Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California begins its season this Saturday.

Regional oval track action begins this Saturday. Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, Calif., opens its season at 6 p.m. when heat races begin. 

Nor Cal Rock Racing begins its season this weekend with the Wild-West Shootout at Prairie City.

• Over the hill Nor Cal Rock Racing is having its season opening round this weekend at Prairie City. Many of the competitors also compete with the Ultra 4 series so it will be an action packed weekend of these off-road racers. 

Now over to TV land. 

• On Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. Friday is empty but a good time to check out all kinds of racing highlights on www.youtube.com

• Saturday gets rolling with a double header at the Circuit of the Americas outside of Austin, Texas. Fox Sports 1 at 10 a.m. broadcasts the Camping World Truck Series then at 1:30 p.m. the network airs the Xfinity race.

• At 7 p.m. Peacock and USA Network broadcast the AMA Supercross race from Seattle. The big question will be can Levi Tomac make it five in a row?

• Sunday gets off to an early start at 4:55 a.m. when ESPN broadcast the Formula 1 race from Saudi Arabia. Then at 12:30 p.m. FOX will have the NASCAR Cup race from COTA or the Circuit of the Americas. Last year’s race was pretty wild so this one could be action packed.
