RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 2 TO 5

RENO, NV (June 1) — Another busy weekend for car and race fans. There is also a bunch of events on TV as well. 

CAR MEETS:

Schedule for this year’s Carson Thursday Night Cruises.

• The Carson City Thursday Night Cruise for this week starts at 5:30 by the Staybridge Hotel. Nice way to enjoy the lower gas prices down there and enjoy nice cruising weather. 

Friday is when Summit Racing Parts has its usualy cruise in.

• On Friday, starting around 4 p.m. is the Cruise-in at Summit Racing Parks. The store is located on East Glendale in Sparks. 

This weekend is when Lovelock has its annual Show N’ Shine car show

• To the east there is the Lovelock Street Fever Show N’ Shine on Saturday and Sunday with a cruise on Saturday. They even have an Ice Cream Social Friday and the location is by the Court House. 

On Saturday in Fallon there is an all AMC Car Show at Stockman’s Casino.

• On Saturday there is the Western Regional High Desert AMC Car Show in Fallon. It’s at Stockman’s Casino and is for cars the American Motors Corporation made. 

• Sunday is when Reno Cars and Coffee has their first of the month meet. Things get going around 10 a.m. at the Keitzke Starbucks. 

Stars and Bars Classic Car show is this Sunday.

• At that same time by the Sportsman Warehouse on Moana Lane, by the freeway, is the Cars & Stripes Classic Car Celebration. The function benefits Disabled American Veterans. 

SPECIAL NOTES:

Desert Park Raceway is closed this weekend due to PRS at Stead Airport.

Due to the Plyon Racing Seminar at the Stead Airport, Desert Park Raceway will be closed for most of the day from June 2 through Sunday, June 5 and only open after 6 p.m. 

While there is no practice on the motocross track this weekend there will be two MX camps this coming week.

• The Motocross track at Fernley NightyfiveA Speedway won’t have practice sessions this weekend. But next Thursday and Friday the tracks will have the Enticknap Summer Camp to help motocross racers up their game. 

RACING (4-Wheel):

The High Desert Classic returns to the Winnemucca Regional Raceway this weekend.

• This weekend, from Thursday through Sunday, Winnemucca Regional Raceway is hosting the 6th Annual High Desert Classic. Should be three days of great racing on the oval. 

Diamond Mountain Speedway has races this Friday night.

• Friday is when Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville has its next race. As usual heat races will start around 6 p.m. 

• Saturday, starting at 6 p.m., American Valley Speedway in Quincy, California will host their next race. The usual classes, including Dwarf Cars will be on the oval.

• To the south, in Ensenada, Mexico it’s time for the 54th annual Baja 500. Things get rolling on Wednesday but Saturday is when the green flag waves.

RACING AND PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS): 

E Street MX is closed Saturday for Hangtown but on Sunday will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on the front and back tracks. 

Schedule for the Summer Sundayz series.

• This week’s round of the P.R.O. Summer Sundayz seriesis at Oatfield Racewy in Snelling, California. 

• Nothing for MMX right now so best advise is to check their Face Book page. • Riverfront MX has no practice this Thursday due to Hangtown but will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. 

• Biggest event of the week is the annual Hangtown Nationals, part of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series. Prairie City isn’t far from Reno and it’s a great way to see some of the top motocross racers in the country. 

Saturday is race day and it will be seen live on www.mavvtv.com. The action begins at 1 p.m. 

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday begins very early at 3:30 a.m. when CBS Sports has Formula E Preview Show from Jakarta. Then at a more civilized hour, at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. 

• Friday, at 2:25 p.m. is when www.imsa.tv has qualifying from Detroit for the IMSA WeatherTech Sport Car series. At 6 p.m. Fox Sports has the NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from Epping, New Hampshire. 

• Saturday is a busy day starting at 10:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck Series from Gateway. Then at 9:30 a.m. CBS Sports has the first Formula E race from Jakarta. 

Over on USA/Peacock at noon is when they broadcast the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car race from Detroit. Then at 1:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Xfinity race from Portland. 

At 4 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has the MotoAmerica Super Bike race from Road America. At that same time Fox Sports 1 airs the second NHRA Qualifying show from the New England Nationals. 

• Sunday begins at 12:30 p.m. when Fox Sports airs the NASCAR Cup Race from Gateway. At that same time USA and Peacock team up to broadcast the Indy Car race from Detroit. 

At 2:30 p.m. CNBC, on a delayed basis, airs the MotoGP race from Catalunya, Spain. Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has the second MotoAmerican Super Bike race from Road America. 

Finally at 4 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 it’s the New England Nationals as the NHRA racers burn up the quarter mile.  

OTHER RACING NEWS:

Remember, starting at 4:30 Monday is when the Pizza Factory in Spanish Springs has its weekly cruise in and car show.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In northwest Nevada, it can be heard over the air at 1060 AM. 

There is also a Podcast at amm.streamon.fm or it can be seen live on Face Book. The show is focused on all things automotive, trends, new developments and trivia.

      Thanks Tom. Wasn’t able to get to either one due to family being her for
      the graduation of my oldest grand niece. Hope to see you all in a couple
      of weeks. Need to get past the NHRA Open out at Top Gun this weekend.
