RACING PREVIEW: JULY 14 TO17

RENO, NV (July 13) — Another action packed weekend is ahead of us with racing, car meets and a bunch of events on TV. Yes it’s summer time here in Northern Nevada.

 CAR MEETS:

• This week, starting at 5 p.m. the Carson City Thursday Night Cruise will start at the Dayton Valley Golf Course.  

Friday is when Summit Racing has its next cruise in.

• Friday will be a busy time. Over on East Glendale, starting around 5 p.m., there is a cruise in at Summit Racing Parts. 

This year the Downtown Fernley Main Street cruise only happens once a month. And Friday is this month’s.

+ It’s also when the next Downtown Fernley Main Street Cruise happens. It starts at 6 p.m. and goes from the Fernley Moose Lodge to the Round About and back. Great way to end the work-week.  

Road Rider of Reno is hosting a motorcycle show ‘n shine and BBQ Friday evening.

      For the motorcycle crowd Road Rider of Reno on Friday, located at 2187 Market Street is hosting the Legion of Sin BBQ. Things get going at 6 p.m. and there will be all kind of activities and motorcycles to see.

+ On Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., Nevada Jeep Club will have the Jumbo Grade Trail run. Starts at the bottom of Jumbo Grade off East Lake and ends at Virginia City.

+ Sunday is when Reno Cars & Coffee has its next meet. Starting time is 10 a.m. and the location is by the Human Bean Coffee Stand. It’s near the intersection of Moana and Keitzke Lanes and had easy freeway access. 

RACING (REGIONAL):

• Battle Mountain Raceway gets the weekend rolling with a two-day show. Friday’s racing begins at 7 p.m. then noon on Saturday is when the Outlaw Karts start and the cars go again at 7 p.m. 

• Down in East Quincy the American Valley Speedway has its next race. Things get going at 6 p.m. and the track is literally in the woods right by the Fair Grounds. 

Reno SCCA hosts its next two rounds of their Solo season this Saturday and Sunday.

• Saturday and Sunday is when the Reno SCCA hosts the next rounds of its Solo Season. Location is at the Regional Training Center and everyone lines up by the entrance gate at 9 a.m. 

• Sunday is the fifth round of the season for the Northern Nevada Kart Club. They’ll use the same track at Desert Park Raceway as the KPX even raced on.  

A week after hosting the KPX event, the Northern Nevada Kart Club has their next race on Sunday.

Things usually get going around 9 a.m. with qualifying, two heat races for each class and a main. It’s a full day of racing and online registration is open. 

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

The MX track is closed this weekend but will be open next Saturday and Sunday.

• Due to prior engagements the motocross track at Fernley NinetyfiveA Speedway is closed this weekend. However it will be open for practice next weekend. 

Due to the expected heat Saturday night’s round of the BBMX series has been postponed.

• Big announcement is the postponement of Saturday evening’s next round of the BBMX series. Due to the expected heat at Riverfront that race has been postponed until August 13. However all the tracks still has practice schedules posted for this weekend. 

      Riverfront is slated to have practice Thursday from10 until 5 p.m. then from 9 until 2 Sunday. Prairie City is supposed to have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

      E Street is supposed to have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  

      With the heat that’s expected the best bet is to check with the hotline before heading out and that’s 1-775-265-7223. 

      Sadly there was nothing posted for MMX Racing. However their hotline is 1-530-777-9724. 

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

Thursday is an empty day so it’s a good time to catch up on the highlights on www.youtube.com

• Friday at 2:30 is when www.imsa.tv has IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car qualifying from Lime Rock. 

• Saturday gets rolling with the Pro Motocross series at Millville and all the action is on www.mavtv.com.

First 250 moto is at 11 a.m. followed at noon by the first 450 moto. Then at 1 the second 250 moto goes and the gate drops for the second 450 moto at 2 p.m. Of course the big question is will Eli Tomac make it four in a row. 

– Over on the USA Network at 11: 30 they show the Xfinity race from Louden, New Hampshire. Then at 3:30 CBS Sports has the first Formula E race from New York City. 

– CBS at 5 p.m. will air the next SRX race. This time they’ll be on a dirt short track.  Finally at 7 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Qualifying Show #1 from the NHRA Mile High Nationals. 

• Sunday get started at 8 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the second NHRA qualifying show from Denver. Then at 10:30 CNBC has the FIM Super Bike Championship Race.

      At noon the USA Network has the NASCAR Cup race from New Hampshire Motor Speedway. At that same time Peacock has the Indy Car race from Toronto, Canada. 

      At 1 p.m. Fox has the NHRA Mile High Nationals from Denver. After this the straight-line crew will begin their annual western swing. Finally at 7 p.m., on a delayed basis, CBS Sports airs the weekend’s second Formula E race from New York.
