RACING PREVIEW: SEPTEMBER 22 TO 25

RENO, NV (Sept. 21) — Fall started yesterday and we’re about to say good-by to Septembrt, but the area is going to be full of car meets as well as Street Vibrations Fall Rally. There are two groups ending their racing seasons this weekend not to mention what’s on TV.

From Thursday through Sunday this region become Sturgis West as the annual Street Vibrations Fall Rally happend.

 CAR & MOTORCYCLE MEEETS:• Biggest event this week is the annual Street Vibrations Fall Rally. A 4-day celebration of motorcycles that turns our area into Sturgis West. 

There will be events at Reno Harley-Davidson as well as Battle Born Harley Davison in Carson City. In addition to what is happening in Reno there will also be things up at Virginia City. 

Sunday is when Northern Nevada Classics has the Hounds & Hot Rods show and shine at Baldini’s Casino.

• Sunday, from 9 until 3 p.m. Northern Nevada Classics will have the 2nd annual Hounds & Hot Rods Show & Shine charity event. Location is at Baldinis’ Casino at 865 S. Rock Blvd in Sparks. 

Sunday is when Dolan Auto Group has its annual Cars & Coffee meet at the dealership on Keitzke.

• Sunday from 9 until noon is when the annual Dolan Auto Group Cars & Coffee will meet. Location is at the Toyota dealership on Keitzke. Should be a great turn out with good weather 

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Battle Mountain Raceway ends its 2022 season with the 3-day Silver Cup races.

• To the east Battle Mountain Raceway ends its 2022 season with the annual Silver Cup event. There will be racing starting at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday then Sunday’s races begins at 12 p.m. 

• Saturday, starting a 6 p.m. American Valley Speedway in East Quincy, California ends its 2022 season with the Timber Cup Races. Those that race Sport Mods have additional mounted to their purse. 

• Sunday, beginning around 9 a.m. is the final points’ race for the Northern Nevada Kart Club at Desert Park Raceway. The track is located on the dirt extension of Lemmon Drive. 

Sunday is championship day for the Northern Nevada Kart Club. Some class champions will earn a free entry at the upcoming IKF National Championships.

This is championship day and each title-holder for several classes receives a free entry to the IKF Grand Nationals run October 7-9 with the finals on Sunday.  Online pre-registration is now open. 

This weekend VORRA runs its final desert race of the season with the Yerington 300.

• To the southeast VORRA is running the Yerington 300 this weekend. For more information please go to www.vorraracing.com

Since the VORRA event falls on Public Lands Day the organization plans to do some cleaning up in the desert.

The race weekend also falls on National Public Lands Day and racers are encouraged to pick up as much trash as they can on Saturday.  

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTORCYCLES):

In a surprise move REP Racing MX canceled it’s fall series.

• In a surprise move REP Racing MX canceled it’s fall series for this year. No reason was given there is probably a good one.

• Due to the rains the Thursday practice at Fernley Ninetyfivea Speedway is canceled. However, after things dry out a bit from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday there will be practice sessions. 

Lassen MC will host this week’s round of the MRANN series. Location is at the Dry Valley OHV area.

• To the north, Lassen Motorcycle Club is hosting Round 5 of the MRANN season. Location is the Dry Valley OHV Area located northeast of Doyle and east of Susanville, California. 

• REP Racing will have practice sessions on it’s tracks this weekend.  

-Prairie City on Friday has OTHG Ride day from 9 until 2 p.m. followed by open practice on Saturday and Sunday. 

This Friday is an OTHG Ride Day at the Riverfront MX track.

      Riverfront from 5 until 10 p.m. has practice on Thursday. Then, from 9 until 2 p.m., Saturday is Sierra Old Timers Ride day followed on Sunday be open practice. 

This weekend MMX Racing and E-Street MX are combining forces for a GP event.

• This weekend MMX Racing and E-Street MX Park team up for a Joint GP sponsored by Monterey Peninsula Power Sports. Sunday is race way and AMA District 36 rules apply. Online registration is at www.mmxracing.com

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. Thursday has NASCAR Race Hub. 

• On Friday Fox Sports 1 at 4 p.m. has the NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from the Carolina Nationals. 

• Saturday begins at 8:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 2, in a same-day delayed basis, broadcast the first MotoAmerican Super Bike race from Barber. 

      Then at 12:30 p.m., the USA Network airs the Xfinity race from Texas. This series is also in a countdown to it’s 2022 championship. 

• Sunday begins at 11 a.m. when CNBC airs the Moto GP race from Motegi, Japan. The country is being hit by a super Typhoon so one will have to check if the race will still happen or be postponed. 

      Also at 11 a.m. is when Fox Sports 1 airs the second NHRA Qualifying show.

      At 11:30 a.m. the USA Network will air the NASCAR Cup race from Texas. Once again some drivers will be eliminated from the Chase for the championship.

      At noon Fox Sports has the Beltway NHRA Carolina Nationals from Charlotte, North Carolina. The points are tightening as the series heads toward crowning its class champions. 

      Finally at 5:30 p.m. Fox Sports 2 (SD) has the second MotoAmerica Super Bike race from Baker. 

That’s it for this weekend, will be good weather so if possible do see a race live. If not there are plenty of opportunities to see cars and motorcycles in our region.

Only one more week to sign up youngsters that race motocross.

If you have a youngster that races motocross there is a little over a week to go to sign them up for the Moto Mouth Mini Team. It’s a chance for them to belong to a team that loves the same type of racing. Registration only goes until October 1.
