RACING PREVIEW: NOVEMBER 10 TO 13

RENO, NV (Nov. 9) — Fall is here and two motorcycle series end their seasons this weekend although there are still car meets. Over on the tube another series is about to end its season with two more having one more weekend left.

 So that means we’re headed into the Re-Run Zone. Still  New Year’s isn’t too far away and series will be starting up again.

CAR MEETS:

• This Sunday is when Sparks Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month. Time is 10 a.m. until noon and location is by the Starbucks located by Disc Drive, which is off Pyramid Way. Nice part is If it’s cold hot chocolate is close at hand.

RACING (4-WHEELS):

• This weekend the dirt track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the site for Duel in the Desert featuring all the IMCA divisions as well as others.

Drivers come from across the west to compete in this event and maybe some from Canada. The event started on Tuesday with qualifying and ends with a blizzard of final races on Saturday.

RACING AND PRACTICE (MOTOCYCLES):

• Two area series are staging their final events of the season this weekend. On line sign ups are still open for both events.

MRANN ends its season at the Lovelock Speedway when the Mason Valley Dirt Squirts stage the final race of the season.

The Mason Valley Dirt Squirts are staging the Blood, Sweat and Gears race Saturday and Sunday, the final round of the 2022 MRANN series.

– Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. is when the Pee Wees race and a few championships will be determined when this event ends. Then at 10:30 the Mini Bikes, Women and Bombers get their chance on a short course.

– Saturday night will see team Pit Bike races. Apparently the last time these happened it was a popular event.

– Then on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. the Big Bikes take off. To be classed as a finisher a rider has to complete one of the two laps and again, championships will be decided at the checkered flag.

The Reno chapter of the Old Timers is starting the final round of this year’s BBMX season. Location is at Fernley 95A MX.

• Closer to home Battle Born MX has its season ending race at Fernley 95A MX. Saturday is for practice then they usually try and start racing around 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Here again, it’s championship weekend for several riders that haven’t clinched it yet. With this week’s rain and snow the dirt should be in great condition.

E-Street MX Park is the site of the final round of the OTHG Vet Motocross 2022 series.

• Over the hill, E-Street MX Park is hosting the final round of the OTHG Vet Motocross series. Saturday has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. with gates opening Sunday at 6:30 and practice will probably start at 8 a.m. with racing to follow.

Due to the rain two tracks won’t have practice this week but will have sessions this weekend.

• Riverfront MX won’t have practice on Thursday but from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Prairie City is closed on Friday but has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Just too much rain this week.

•MMX Racing will also have practice, starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. Then at 7 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has NHRA in 30.

• This weekend the Formula 1 series visits Brazil for its next to final race of the season. On Friday, at 7:25 a.m. ESPN 2 has qualifying. Then at 8:55 a.m. ESPN 3 has the Formula 1 show followed at 11:55 a.m. on ESPN2 with qualifying.

• Saturday has an early start at 2:30 a.m. when www.motortrendondemand.com airs the FIA World Endurance 8 Hours of Bahrain.

Over on ESPN News at 7:25 a.m. they have Formula 1 qualifying followed at 11:25 a.m. with Sprint Qualifying.

• Sunday starts at 9:55 a.m. when ABC and ESPN 2 has the Formula 1 race from Brazil. Since this year’s championship has been settled others finishing positions could be up for grabs.

Then, on a same-day delayed basis CNBC at 11 a.m. has the Superbike World Championship series from Indonesia. Once this is the next to last event with the last one the following weekend.

• Over at Fox Sports 1 at 11 a.m. is the NHRA Qualifying Show #1. Then at 1 p.m. the network has the Auto Club Finals from Pomona where all the class championships will be known.
